V1G2 poor/non existant detection against laser cameras

I remember years ago, when they 1st put those 2 fixed poliscan cameras on the freeway the V1 would pick it up across 6 lanes from the opposite direction & also pick it up from the rear sensor as they drove pass.

Or those other times it gave me like 500 to 700+m of warning of ALICE on a regional highways...

I miss those old days. lol

That’s not it then. 1.86 is a more recent hardware with the condenser lens for the front sensor.

I also had an much older V1 (direct import from the US), lasted a good 8+ years till I accidentally dropped it & broke something inside, which is when I bought the next one locally. From my memories the older one gave me even more random laser alerts & K band was basically on full most of the time lol.

But something in the new gen2 seems to be causing it to struggle with Poliscan & S350m LiDAR cameras... which is a major bummer for us WAers as besides rural/regional highway driving, majority of all other driving encounters would be with these 2 type of mobile cameras (along with sometimes police hiding behind a bus stop snipering you with their LiDAR guns).

If I remember correctly, VR has said there's no difference between Gen 1 and Gen 2 laser systems.

That's generally true @LouG. I suspect that the improved laser filtering of newer V1s is throwing a wrench in Mayuri's particular situation.

In case the OP is not aware, VR have their update system operational using the V1 Connection app. It updates to version 4.1019, and has many fixes and changes.
Well worth doing that now and seeing what happens with Laser detection.

Yes, I think the changelog explains the Laser behaviour. I was not able to get it to trigger with my iPhone11 faceid. My Gen2 is at 4.1019

In theory Valentine Research could have better signal recognition than ALP due to the use of an FPGA? Just random thing that popped into my head after reading what you posted

yep i miss those days also

i dont think the Gen 2 is the full blame here though specially in WA as i have also noticed a hell of a decrease in detection over the years using antilaser and other jammers as i have studied there tactics for a long time

we have to take into account that these operators are learning as they go ..Back 10 years ago there knowledge was limited so they where restricted on curtain things when setting up these laser based camaras as they slowly phased out the 6F and usig the fixed speed camaras in boxes as a test bench

S350 apears to be more refined an focused as i have also noticed my ALP behaves differently depending on what head detects first ...And if i remember rightly the good old V1 had a blind spot

each suburb/ area has cycles of when they dont hide camaras mixed with very good allert times ..this is to keep the media at bay as then its not revenue.... At this moment in time NOR past joondalup over the past few days have been very good allert times ..But in the next few weeks i allready know im in for those very short allerts and well hiddin traps AGAIN

had my fair share of handheld encounters 10 years ago they where all trigger happy scanning the entire vehicle .. Some of them are still trigger happy while hiding in the shadows .. but some can be selective on who they target

An email reply may be delayed. VR are run off their feet and they tend to leave emails as a lesser priority. I gave up and called recently, it's lot quicker.

Spotted another revuene raiser setup near my house coming back from work so I did another quick test.

This time a Jenoptik S350m, was in an "ideal" setup for RD pickup (not hidden behind anything, facing pretty much straight down the road with clear view).

Gen1 gave a initial laser warning at over 500m, then was stuck on laser alert the whole way from 410m (according to waze) until I passed the camera.

Gen2 gave 3 burst laser warnings from about ~200m, so definitly faired better vs Poliscan (blind to it most of the time), but still lacking the constant alert vs gen1.

So it seems what ever laser filtering/firmware VR used is causing the most issue with poliscan, but still works somewhat vs S350m (I'm guess it's the new "fixed" one that's pretty much shooting laser signals all over the place lol)

I also wanted to buy this V1Gen2 for lasers in France but too expensive.

So I tried the uniden R3 and the R7 but zero against the laser.

On the other hand, my very old solo escort s2 works great for lasers but not for the rest.
