Would someone please give me a quick education on which servers to use and how to use them to setup crowdsource alerts? I have done several searches and found nothing definitive. I am ready to be embarrassed by its simplicity but right now it is eluding me.

Hi, here is what the website says

NOTE: Despite entering waze.com as a server address will show real-time police alerts directly from Waze, it violates Waze ToS and might be illegal in your country.

You can get crowd sourced alerts using Escort Live.

Unfortunately the crowd sourced alerts from Escort Live are nowhere near as useful as those from platforms such as Waze.

The EL user base is too small to have any meaningful coverage in most areas, and not differentiating between stationary and moving Ka alerts litters the map with false reports. Also, I've found that there are a ridiculous number of false red light and speed camera alerts. I'm assuming these are user reports from people that don't know any better, but it's not clear why it's even possible to report them in states where they are illegal. Lastly, Escort Live has a habit of crashing before every holiday weekend and is rarely restored until the next business day.

The concept is good, but without a larger user base and with such a buggy app, the implementation leaves much to be desired.

Yes, EL is pretty bad. There's a reason we are asking for open API calls. It's so 3rd party devs can actually make a good app. IMO, Escort should focus on their hardware and let 3rd parties deal with apps and integrating them across detector brands so it's actually useful.

I get that Escort is trying to make money by trying to use EL as a first a carrot and then a way to possibly hook users on their hardware later in a sort of Apple model but there just aren't enough detector users, let alone Escort users for that to actually work.

Create an open API and let 3rd parties do their magic since it's pretty obviously not Escorts strong point. You'll be continually surprised by community developed applications and they will only help sell your detectors. For many, the only reason they were still able to run a V1 for so many years was because of the apps created for it, not by VR but by 3rd parties.

Thanks, everyone. I have Escort Live and use it in my wife's car with the MAX 360c. The app is pretty but pretty much sucks. I have used it and faithfully reported over the years but it seems like I am the only one in my area. I am using JBV1 and Highway Radar with my V1G2.

Setting up Highway Radar app and I'm a little confused on crowd sourced services. Is post #2 a wink, wink? or what do people use? Seems like Waze and FlightRadar24 but both are listed the same (post #2) in the FAQs on the highway radar website.

You know you can run highway and escort at the same time picture in picture right?

Can you enter more than one server address? If so, how?

Can someone please post the server address to Escort Live?

Is there a thread that shows simply just server addresses for Crowd-sourced alerts? I'm not sure if I am looking in the wrong place or this topic is purposefully omitted.

There can only be one server address.
To my best knowledge, Escort doesn't provide a server address compatible with Highway Radar.

PS. The amount of server addresses allowed from my point of view is one. If I select flightradar24.com then I see the Aircraft Alerts icon green and Crowd-sourced Alerts red; if I select waze.com I see the Crowd-sourced Alerts green and the Aircraft Alerts red. It seems to be one or the other.

If only one, what is the best one to use that is all-encompassing? Thanks.

Aren't CSA, Aircraft, and Weather all seperate areas?

I was under the impression that Ferius meant there's only one CSA data source.

Weather and aircraft have everything built in. There are good data sources not bound by restrictive ToS there, so there is no need to input a server name there. Server name is only needed for crowd-sourced alerts, as I can't pull data, say, from Waze without severely violating its ToS.
Btw, the protocol that my app uses is based on the good old open-sourced implementation of Waze; I don't know any public data providers (other than Waze) following the same protocol.
