In 2018 Vortex did an interview with the Escort Team and asked for AutoJTK for these radar detector models Max360/360c that use ZR5/SW5 Shifters. Can Escort or someone from Cedar Electronics Provide an update on this? It was promised during that meeting in 2018 and we have yet to see any progress on the matter. Thank you!

They just did it with the latest R360 update. 1.3.

Vortex tested it and it seems to work.

I don’t think it’s trickled down to the other Escort detectors yet, but the newest FW for the R360 shows it is possible.

I have a maybe stupid question, just ordered ZR5 to play with, how to connect it with RL360c? Didn’t find any info or manual that I can reference to. I am currently have my RL360c connected via mirrotap with blendmount.

Am I correct, if running ZR5 as standalone, there is no way to configure it for AutoJTK, right?

Maybe my question was not clear, what I am trying to find out what wire is needed to connect ZR5 to compatible radar detector? The Escort website only sell the detector direct wiring cables for detector, but for ZR5 to connect to detector, it supposed to be just a plug in cable, RJ11 on both end?

Received ZR5 and answered my own question. Escort website really needs to make product description more clear to help consumer making right choices.

Anyway, the ZR5 comes with passing through cord for compatible Escort radar detectors. And it is also true that you have to connect to radar detector in order to utilize JTK feature. I have it connected to RL360c and set it up for Shift4 for JTK in 4 seconds.

Now it’s the time for hitting the road.......

Glad you figured it out... now you can tell Escort so they can learn how their own stuff works too. [emoji1]

HZ360c, Where do you live? Be careful, as I think care needs to be take if you're in dragon eye country. Be sure and run your unit through Pro tools to get the latest FW upgrade. I'm not positive, as I've not had it confirmed, but the latest FW upgrade improves the attacks against DE hits. Just a caution I thought you'd like to know about.

Mine did an update but I didn't notice the version number. But that's cool, means you're current at least. Keep us posted as to your adventures. Enjoy and be cautious.

Yeah it has the feature. I was playing with it again yesterday. It doesn't say anything on screen when it does disarm though. I think this is still a standing issue with certain detectors. Some will let you know when they disarm, others won't. It's kind of inconsistent.

I am new to the forum. Can anybody explain the method one would update the ZR5 to get the latest firmware? About how many updates should one expect over a 12 month period?

I am very close to pulling the trigger on a couple front ZR5 shifters paired with a Max 360C.

To update you have to bring your laptop loaded with Escort's Detector Tools Pro software to the car and plug in a USB cord into the ZR5 interface box. If you're mounting the interface under your dashboard then I would keep a long USB cord plugged into the interface and have it easily accessible for when you need to update.

As for the number of updates in 12 months I would expect zero. I believe that only one update was released since the ZR5 has been available. Escort is not very good with providing information.

Hold off on your purchase until some of the RDF members weigh in on your CM recommendation post.
