Thanks for answering the question about a future Max 360c update for K Notch.
Has anyone seen a post about all the variations of the 360’s being updated?

Others have asked about the Bel/Cobra platform sharing products, but there hasn’t been any update there. IIR you have/had the Bel variant...

Hi Gail- So I ordered my R360c and the 3 year subscription yesterday. I ordered it second day air. Later I call customer support to check to see if I would get it by Saturday August 2nd. Misty said that they were not filling new orders as they were filling backorders from the middle of July first. Misty also mentioned that they QCed all the new R360cs before they shipped them out. Misty mentioned too that she had no idea when the next shipment of detectors would arrive so as to fill new orders. I guess my question is this- When will my order get sent out, or did I waste $25 on the second day shipping option? Thanks so much for your reply in my behalf.
Ron

One would expect they would QC the detectors at the point of manufacture rather than have to open up every box when they arrived in the states. Yikes.
Welcome to the world of foreign contract manufacturing. This is unfortunately more common than what you would expect.

Even some items made here have to have a little work put into them before they are delivered to the customer.

Its not the greatest analogy but take a look at the time some cars get for dealer prep. It could be a few hours of time making sure some of the parts are correct, or adding parts that were not available at the factory. Most of the dealer prep is adding fluids, putting on items removed for shipping like antennas and ground effects - but I have seen cars come in with incorrect model badges, no computer or radio - one was even missing a transmission.

Contract factories make money by spending as little time as possible barely meeting the min specs( if they meet them), so at times they can push shoddy work out the door and sometimes an entire batch of products have similar defects that need to be inspected, reworked or replaced.

Recently I can think of the VW issue where they had to stop production for the Atlas as part of the suspension made in Mexico had casting defects causing the parts to crack, Cub Cadet also had to recall and fix many engines for another casting defect, again from a foreign plant.

Very much agreed as @samq45 said. Been involved oversea manufacturing businesses myself, we are holding much higher QC processes for many reasons. Also, depends on how Escort processes the goods, those could be imported in bulk format, and warehouse here may have to do the individual packing before delivered to consumers. In similar setting, like iPhone, Apple is contracting with UPS to handle the individual packaging and distribution. Especially during the new iPhone launching, UPS will receive the bulk from manufacturers in China as an example, going through there distribution warehouse, repacked then ship to you. UPS just acting as Apple’s warehouse, distributor, and logistic provider, commonly know as 4PL provider. Given the size and quantity of the detectors order, being manufactured oversea, the processes and principles are the same. It just happens in a small scale witching the Escort. So, it is not as simple as receiving one in front door and send one out at back.

funny to me that with a FW update they can improve the range. Why not improve it to the point that its number one on the market- it docent need to much more to take that prize away from the other 3 competitors. Puzzling.

I had a couple Solo really loved them.

Software controls all the parameters of the radio including sensitivity. These things need to to be tested if they ran it wide open all sorts of unwanted issues may show up. They may decide to increase sensitivity in steps or not.

It was obvious that they were able to do all sorts of great things with a software update. It appears that the R360c is top priority with the president of Cedar on top of it.

If you look at many of the recent tests from others, it is. The R360c beats the others anywhere from 100ft to over 300ft so they take the win on range. Me, personally, I don't need an over abundance of range, I want enough to become aware and slow down - don't need this thing chirping for 3 miles!
At this point, the top three contenders are very similar in range so it comes down to preference on the options and what YOU have to do with the detector to make it works it's best. I love the R360c because I can set it and forget it and it does it's thing. The others need 3rd party apps and much more fiddling to get them to do the same thing.

the DP360 and the GT360 are kinda like those inbred cousins from Arkansas you read about, the ones that join the Arkansas highway patrol and hide behind K band drones.

@JSherbondy @Cedar Electronics CTO I was watching Vortex's "Redline 360c 1.3 and Max 3 Test Results" where he mentions the RL360c alert graph increasing but the audio going silent and not reflecting the increase threat for a few seconds:
Starts @3:45

This has been an issue with the M360 as well for a long time. It is not unique to my particular unit as it has happened with an older 79x unit and two 85x units. I have mentioned this issue a couple times in threads here as during alerts it forces you to take your eyes off the road and focus on the RD instead of being able to trust the audio to know what is happening.

I know the M360 and RL360c are different 'under the hood', but it seems to me at least l some of the M360 code was used in the RL360c as well considering this 'bug' has followed over identically.

If this is going to be addressed/corrected in the RL360c can a fix also be released for the M360 as well?

Thank you!

Great questions. It appears Gail and team are not going to answer any questions directly on RDF, as last time they gathered, some of the questions, and responded in a prepared video. So, good to see the questions here, but if you have not done so already, best to contact Escort directly.
