Can someone explain to me WHY Escort detectors “failure rate” is so much higher than other RD manufacturers like Valentine and Uniden???

Brand new $800+ detectors should not be required to be serviced/repaired this often. Absolutely ridiculous and unacceptable.

This is why I’m done with Escort and never purchasing another one of their overpriced junk ever again.

What do you think @croup ? Up for another one? I know you're a RL360c owner and you did a great job with the V1G2 issues thread.
Definitely no problem with putting in the time for such a thread but will have to give this some long thought how to make it a productive thread instead of mud slinging thread......

Open Issues is very broad term and definitely not the least bit interested if it entails customer service, refunds, false claims, AI, backorders, etc....

But if were only talking about

1. mechanical problems (hardware related)
2. possible firmware fixes to known issues (examples below)
a. reactivity
b. better K band ramp up
c. fixing MRCD detection

I might be up to it if your up to cleaning up the rif raf with your eraser....

That's exactly how I'd handle it @croup .
Mechanical issues and suggestions plus software issues and suggestions. Customer service stuff can go to customer service and those with real issues on that front can contact Escort or @GailFromCedar directly if they have continuing issues.

TLDR, the thread should only chronicle and keep track of hardware and firmware/software issues and bugs so the Escort team has a one-stop-shop where they can see them quickly and hopefully address them.

@croup and @OBeerWANKenobi , you guys are much appreciated and what you're doing makes RDF the destination for CM enthusiasts.

@croup hasn't your G2 thread slowed to a crawl? Thank you so much maintaining that log for all of us.

Yes it has and hopefully it had some tiny influence on getting these issues addressed......I learned a lot from that thread and it has me leery of a new one......I regret a few jokes I made in that thread and found myself playing along at times when I should have held my tounge which is hard for me to do sometimes....I know it is only going to be more challenging on me with an Escort thread, knowing the past from a lot of members that are the backbone of the forum that feel slighted plus the constant negativity from a lot of others bitching about price, CS, etc.....But being neutral considering the last Escort product before the R360C for me, was the Redline O, so I will not be coming from a negative side of things helps and if it helps even in the slightest bit to bring some kind of relationship back between the two it is worthwhile to me...

I seen this..... then ducked.

@croup
I think you did great on that thread.
For what it’s worth, you have my whole hearted backing if you do one for the Escort detectors.

I think it’ll be very beneficial for both sides. Anything to help manufactures improve is always a “Win”.

Hi Gail,

I received my Redline 360c back on Sunday from Escort for warranty repair of excessive Ka falsing (spent around $20 to ship it to Escort). The repair notes showed they only "tightened the antenna casting hardware"

Bad news - The detector still has the same Ka falsing issue! :(
Today I went on a long drive to upstate NY. On NJ 287 North the constant Ka falsing started again (my wife noted all the frequencies on a piece of paper while I drove).

The list below is not the full list of Ka falses today (my wife and I stopped tracking after a while since there were so many of them).
(I had Ka segments 2/4/5/6/8 enabled).

@Gail:
I have two asks given that the Ka falsing problem was NOT fixed and that I already had to pay once for shipping to Escort for my Redline 360c warranty repair (I also have the 2 year ESP):
1) Since there is obviously something seriously wrong with my detector, I would appreciate it if I can return my Redline 360c for a new replacement Redline 360c (rather than another 'repair') so I do not get disappointed again.
2) Since I had to pay for shipping to Escort once already and the problem was NOT fixed by the 'repair', I would hope Escort can send me a prepaid shipping label this time?

I can provide my information by PM or use the email thread with the helpful customer service rep to do so..
Let me know please, thanks!

Just as a test (since for the long term I will need segments 4 and 6 back on), I temporarily segmented it to Ka 2/5/8 for the return trip and still got a ton of Ka falses (not included above).

Gail,
Quick update - No action is required from you now - the issue is being handled by customer support, based on an email exchange with them today.
Thanks again for your help and that of the representative who reached out to me and whom I have been communicating with. This makes the whole customer support experience better! She has been doing a great job!

@GailFromCedar help with mrcd I had a max360 sn starting 79 I updated turned on mrcd all I would get was falses on highway or very very short range. Then I upgraded the the redline360c and wow what a difference getting bout a block and a half range with mrcd and almost no falses. Passed on my max360 to my mother so at least she can have gps camera locations and so she can get used to having a radar detector in the car. I was going to surprise her with the newer 360c (got it on sale $70 off) hoping it would be able to pick up mrcd and with alittle testing it never went off to mrcd for the 4 cameras that are near my house (redline picks them up). I could understand some loss of range but it not even going off wth

Hi Richie - this is Joe. Please e-mail me at [email protected]. I would like to discuss the settings you have for the different detectors. Thanks, Joe

@croup in addition to the issues that you’ve highlighted, here are several more for the RL360C specific thread that you’re heading up:

1) Improvement of the Auto Display Brightness
2) I know that you already mentioned reactivity, but specifically improved responsiveness and reactivity to quick trigger shots
3) MRCD (because it can’t be mentioned enough).

Thank you again for volunteering to head this up. It should be a real asset for Cedar Electronics and RDF members alike.

Lol yea they tend to do nothing a few times on the repair end and then finally send u a new one , thats what they did on my rlex , was in and out for 3months while they kept sending it bk with the same issue and then sent me a new one , then it was fixed until i updated it and it was the update , but they dont let u roll bk to make sure , so u get stuck sending it bk and forth for no reason , escorts ways of doing things are outdated and ppl are tired of it !! Like i said shoulda got the boot the 1st day !

Is there some problem you need to be solved, feature you want enhanced, etc? What would you expect to see in such an update?

Hi Gail,

I've received my RL360c back in September from one of your dealers. I got the false KA alert issue with my unit too, after updated it to the V1.4 firmware. Unlike others with tons of false alerts in different frequencies(Maybe I didn't notice as my unit isn't severe in this issue?), my unit was only false to the 35.8xx MHz(Sorry, I can't remember the exact number), which is under Ka seg. 10. I knew that this frequency segment hasn't used in my area nor even in the U.S so that the false alerts can be eliminated by manually disable Ka. Seg.10. I'm currently running the unit with Ka seg. 10 disabled as a temporary turnaround, but I still would like to check if this is some hardware issue that has to be fixed by sending the unit back to the factory?

Thanks,
JumpTiger

Deacon:
1. Better arrow response. Mine seem to become confused /overloaded at times
2. Quicker response to I/O radar of Ka and K band..
Its the same for both units
