Depends on the brand and model. Usually 95mph with most Nissans, more with others.
On any model where the preset speed is shown electronically you can simply set the cruise control and up the speed with the button till it maxes out.

in the cannonball record thread the car used had a 120mph max limit for the cruise. The comments there lead to this thread. In my ignorance, the fact that there is a limit to what speed the cruise can be set at was a revelation to me. Was a bit surprised to learn that a prius has a higher limit than an audi s8 for example. So in the interest of curiosity this thread was created. On older cars there may be no limit the cruise is more of an analog system than digital. Im curious as to what that limit is on modern cars. Would, love to know what the limit is for a Tesla, Porsche, Mercedes, or any other high end, high speed vehicle.

Chevy Cruze, or for your "cruise control"? I'd be surprised if it was a Chevy Cruze supporting 130mph cruise control.

I would be more worried about doing 130 in a Cruze in the first place.

Why? At that speed if you hit something in most anything you’re not going to come out unscathed unless you have a crash box construction car or a cage... and even then it’s questionable.

It’s smooth at that speed. Hell the Impreza does 130... It’s becoming more common for econoboxes.

Most people don’t bat an eye about Focus ST’s hitting 155...

Wow that’s shocking for a Jaguar...

BTB you can usually guess the speed limiter on most cars by just checking the speed rating on the OE tires.

W on these bad boys. I’m shocked lol

Wow that’s super weird... must be another component on the car that isn’t supporting a higher speed then... either that or they’re not the OE tire and have already been replaced.

Dunno man. I think it’s a random number that is chosen. Like the Audi’s for example. Very capable. But limited at 95 for cruise.

I think the biggest limiting factor here is that it’s secretly a Ford lol @Kennyc56

1996 impala SS, 156. The car just wouldn't go any faster than that. At least in its current bone stock form that is.

The cruise would allow to be set at 156?
It has analog cruise control, not digital. I held the accelerate button down and never touched the gas peddle. Reached The max speed of the car which depending on other factors is usually around 155.

Ah yeah I have a car that’s limited at 90 for cruise... but it goes up to 130. I chalk it up to being a car with advanced safety features that can’t operate at above that speed (90 mph)... so the jags cruise goes to 95 but it’s not limited at 95 right? My Cruze has no safety features like auto-braking or adaptive cruise or lane keep.
