The difference is, it is actually unusual for multiple Unidens to fail. Hence, people are trying to help the OP determine whether there is a problem with his car that is causing multiple failures.

My vehicle is a 2018 Navigator and it gets plugged directly into the outlet with the provided cord.

Problems with new detectors are not unheard of. For example I read in the V1G2 forum they were having power issues for the March builds.

My issue was not a power problem but it would simply stop detecting. The power was on but no detection. Ive read about this issue in different places. As for coming to inspect the detectors they were all returned a while back for refund.

As I said my Escort Redline never had any issues.

EXACTLY !!!! ^^^^^^^^^^^^

Wasn't sure but it NEVER triggered my spidey sense. It did come close though.

Its most likely what I already stated.

Just sayin'

Im just reporting what actually happened to me. I dont know if its my car, the detector or both. Whatever the case its what happened and I dont operate an ancient car with electrical issues.

Im hoping the Valentine works out. So far so good. I did like the R7 better for the frills but for some reason it didnt work for me.

...also in NJ every police car with only a few exceptions has a Ka radar gun. Down south in small remote shore towns Ive seen K band. In one town no radar at all. So when I start driving is when I get hit with Ka radar.

Both the Uniden, the Escort and the Valentine can pickup the usual x/k shopping center falses. When I set it to all bands...nothing.

Im certain when it stopped working.

I actually did not notice the Redline 360 came out. I want to have the latest and greatest so when I started reading about it my mouth was wide open...but then I saw the reviews for it in that it really didnt beat out the other detectors and I am satisfied with my choice of the Valentine One Gen 2.

Well, no, the R7s were returned it seems, so it was paid just once.

I feel your pain. I've tried a few R7's and had some arrow/sensitivity issues.
I still have it, but getting inconsistent results.

example video: Same area, radar in the same location, but very different detection differences. I've run this multiple times with mixed results- some ok range, and some very short detection- but can't figure out what is the variable causing this.

especially the ramp up in the 2nd video... seems very delayed while i'm at the red light.

Some people get really good units, and some of us end up with the lower performing ones., so we don't completely discredit NJWonderer.

All I did was SUMMARIZE his words, his experiences, and his Conclusions.

I don't pass judgements. That is for others to do or not to do.

Oh thanks for reminding me what others said about his experience(s) being highly unusual

And a solo experience to boot. 🤔
Say one in a million chance.

FINALLY ... I did NOT say he was embellishing or even padding yhe truth.
Just the Facts Maam. Circa ((Dragnet)( Belushi))

Again nothing to see here folks .. move along.

To prove it here is 2 pages of emails showing orders and returns. This isnt a complete list but what I could find quickly. Identifying info blacked out.

Yes it could be my vehicle electrical system but I never had this problem with Escort Redline.
Screenshots of orders and returns is supposed to be proof that Uniden RD's failed? C'mon now. Those screenshots only prove that you order and return shite.

Well, my reply was solely based on the OP's "To prove it..." post.

You can bro me all you want. Uniden still builds cheap junk.
I really was impressed with my second R1 (The one Uniden sent to replace the first one) until it **** the bed. My R7 was a monster, but it didn’t respect the programming and was susceptible to heat issues when the environmental factors hadn’t reached thresholds. Eventually detection range would start shrinking and the behavior was starting to mirror my first R1.
I found both conditions unacceptable.
I don’t care if it is lightweight or creaky, it rides around on a mount in the windshield area. It just has to work. So I work with technology for a living and have no issue with lightweight. (Moore’s law, anyone?)

wow you bought an R7 for $567 dollars not even a year ago and they are now going for 4's and even mid 3's refurbished. Those detectors dying did you a favor. Uniden is about upper tier performance and lower tier reliability its not a combination you want without a back up detector.

I would feel good about your V1G2 purchase Valentine has a history of building quality into their detectors and when they do die the turn around is short and service is top notch. Alot of us have owned V1's in some form or fashion for years running them daily and leaving them mounted in hot sun without an issue.

enjoy your new detector.

Throughout my entire life the name "Uniden" never seemed to be about reliability. In fact, the "Uniden" name seemed closely associated with the Radio Shack store and Radio Shack never sold anything good. When both the R3 and the R7 worked for my setup I loved them. I was surprised this was coming from Uniden. Then they all broke down on me. Of course, as stated, it could be my car the detectors dont seem to like, but I would think a radar detector designer would have thought of all situations involving vehicle electrical systems. My car is a 2018 and Ive had no issues with the electrical system on it.

Im not saying the Valentine is the end all and be all of detectors or reliability. It simply was the only other option a few months ago when the R3 went bad. In a few months I will know more and I do drive daily.

From what I read in various reports the Valentine Gen 2 can hold its own against the Escort and Uniden detectors quite well. The only thing I can fault the Valentine is it simply doesnt have as many frills as I am used to. However, I might point out a simpler device means fewer things which can go wrong.

Who knows. I'd offer to test the Unidens for you but they are gone. All that matters is you have the new V1G2 and you like it. I'd wager no matter how much you like the G2, it will not be your last RD purchase, especially now that you're here. lol. Congrats on the new RD and I don't think I've welcomed you yet so welcome to RDF.
