after a long wait of back orders, i got my R360C yesterday. I unboxed today and realized my device too has a something lose inside when i shake it. Also it will make a minor buzzing/rattling when on rough pavement... i have waited so long and i dont want to return this thing... i dont know if this will affect the performance in any way. did anyone conclude what is lose inside these detectors??
How long did you have to wait?

i dont think it affect the peformance , i dint notice my rattle until i read it here and took it of the blendmount , also the exchanged was only 4 days after they received it

just got a new replacement unit NDA which should be here tomorrow . keeping my fingers, toes, and my eyes all crossed. I will send the bad one back. Good thing all shipping fees were covered by escort. Great customer service tho, got to give credit when its due.

It's unbelievable that they would ship it out like that way. The detectors are most likely being damaged during shipping.

Thank God dude! its such an annoying experience. Congratulations on getting your new detector, hope it serves you well.

I honestly am so eager to know what in the world is lose and bouncing around like that. I just want to know. But whatever it is, its either during manufacturing or shipping. I highly doubt its shipping. Its more of manufacturing issue/QC

I agree. My second unit was the only one that had the rattle. It was really high pitched and that's what drove me nuts. But I really think it was from the package being tossed by Fedex to the ground. On the third one, I went out and took it from the driver via a handoff. (yes, I wore a mask).... : ) I did not let that one hit the ground. No rattle for me!

No rattle here that I have noticed. I am afraid to shake it now to see. lol
No need to shake it. If it had a rattle, you would hear it when your vehicle runs over any bumps in the road. Thats what clued me in to check mine in the first place. My personal opinion is that if I cannot hear it while driving, it is not a problem. Only #2 of my R360c's had the rattle.

Maybe it is manufacturing. I did take a peek to see what it could be... nothing obvious that is for sure. I got the sense it was something in or around the area of the keys, but NOT the keys themselves.

So I took a 180 mile drive yesterday. some negatives and positives about my current rattling detector.
1. GPS signal kept dropping randomly in and out
2. Rear horn sensitivity was terrible. There were some K band speed signs that were set on the road facing my direction, and the rear horn would alert one bar for 800 feet or so then cut out after passing them, while it would shift to the front horn to 3 bars as the signal was bouncing of the cars in front of me.
3. in some instances the detector would not alert to the speed sign at all while the sign was showing my speed (I know speed signs can drift in frequency) so will give redline the benefit of doubt on that one.
4. did not get one single Ka alert for the whole trip (although this can happen where no treat was present) but may have been due to the rattle??? who knows?? didnt get a ticket so thats good.
5. BSM filtering is amazing, very quiet radar overall but got a hand full of alerts at K 24.0097, 24.0070 (hate these ugly frequency)
6. The red screen looks sexy and matches the interior of my car lolll

If you have a rattle, I'd recommend returning it. It will never mend itself! I had a bad rattle and sent it back. I have a video here somewhere. One person with a rattle surmised that it was the GPS chip/antenna, and if so, that might account for you GPS dropping in and out (which should not happen).

just got the new unit in... ZERO rattles, and GPS connected immediately. the Rattle is most likely has to do with the GPS, Since the defective unit would drop signal sporadically.

It sounds like its the GPS chip ratting around. Anyway, I am glad you are good to go now!!

Rattle is the big piece of ceramic gps antenna breaking off during shipping.

It's a hefty bit of mass and if not affixed properly can easily snap off due to a big jolt. Usually they are connected to the PCB with just a single pin.

That's why you see crappy gps reception while still having a "working" unit.

That orange chunk is the ceramic antenna:
