Yeah understand, but this way if they don't get it right I'll, be able to get full refund without a fuss

Rather than exchange periodically - have them notate your order that you will hold it until you get a chance to work with their first firmware update. Escort advised me today they would help notate my account so that I would have 30 days return window AFTER their upcoming update. That gives me some breathing space, and is the fair thing to do.

I really hope Escort can resolve the issues, but “new firmware to fix the issues will be released in a couple of weeks” sounds a bit too familiar. Been there and decided to never get myself so frustrated with their products.

My last Escort product was the Redline-O so I’m due a mulligan! 🤣

So I just got this comment on one of my RL 360c articles on my website:

Well, I got my RL360C, and it is almost totally deaf on K Band. It will not alert on a K Band speed sign until I am literally next to it.

I spent almost an hour in queue with Escort service this morning just to get to speak with customer service.

I wanted to exchange the unit, but was told in no uncertain terms that Escort has stopped all exchanges and returns for refund until the next firmware update for the Redline 360C. Furthermore, there is no date for the firmware release.

Not at all encouraging.

Wow... Has anyone else heard this? Everyone else I've heard said that they can return and that Escort is extending the return windows for people. This is the first time I've heard them denying returns until the update is released.

I kind of doubt that because legally they can't sell a product with the promise of a 30 day return and then just arbitrarily take it away. Even Escort wouldn't do that.

So Escort is literally violating their own 30 day return policy? Not sure how legally they can prevent a customer from returning their detector and obtaining a refund. I suppose customers could simply dispute the charge on their credit cards.

Wow! If true, no way to run a business...

Right, I find that really hard to believe. People always have the option of doing a chargeback so Escort couldn't stop it. I can't see them taking away the return option altogether.

Escort is actually just extending their 30 day return window until July 31. They are trying to get an update out to fix the R360c before that date. If you don't want to wait & still want a refund, they will grant you that. Hope this clears up the confusion. I am not affiliated with Escort, just one of the people who will give them a chance for right their wrong. If the update doesn't work, back it goes!!

I never ask to return the detector because as soon as I told the lady at Escort that I am a RL 360c owner she told me about the money back window being extended to July 31. She then took my order number serial # and my name and address. She took about 15 seconds to look up everything then told me "everything is good your covered" and that was it. I think anyone with the RL 360c should not send it back right now. After the update we will have more people giving their feed back and perhaps Vortex can test it by its self and compare the results before and after the update.

Mine seems to actually work. Granted, the arrows don't seem to flip as quickly as my max 360c but they flip at about the same speed as my max 360c when it was first released (which was slow too). I did notice some ramp up issues the very first day I used it but for some reason, I haven't been able to reproduce the issue.

I really hope that Escort can come through with a significant and positive firmware update soon for the R360c for all of the R360c owners who have chosen to keep their detector.

I think it is smart that they are extending the 30 day window as I am sure they getting a significant number of returns, but they should have waited on releasing the R360c until it had a more stable firmware. I know Escort wants to get their new product to market, but the premature release of the R360c is causing them more negative publicity than good.

At $750 plus tax, the R360c isn’t inexpensive. If Escort is going to keep raising the bar on price, they need to raise the bar on performance. From initial reports, they haven’t done that for the majority of R360c owners.

The Redline-O is also my last Escort product and thank goodness for that! It's hard to believe how low Escort has fallen since the Redline-O, at least in my opinion. Nothing they have come up with since even comes close to it. I still own 3 of them and they can still fight it out tooth and nail with any other detector made on all Ka bands including my V1G2! All they needed to do was add some K band filtering to that same platform and they would be golden, but I guess that would make too much sense! Let's re-invent the wheel and charge $800.00 for a detector I wouldn't want if they gave it to me for free! Of course, this is just my opinion.

I have heard about the K band blindness and experienced this myself. As far as the not accepting returns, I don't think they have a choice if you demand a return within the PUBLISHED 30 day return period.

Just watch out. There are some bands this detector is NOT alerting on. I guarantee it. Something is wrong with 1.2 on this unit.

From a purely business bean-counter perspective; they might be okay with what has transpired.

It doesn't make sense to us as users, but companies do stuff frequently that benefits them in the long run and doesn't help the individual customers much. 🤔

I would be interested in who is returning there Redline 360c for a replacement or refund and who is going to wait for the firmware update to see if that fixes all the issues. I would think the replacements just might have the same issues (thoughts)
Returned me today. Disastrous purchase.

The Redline360c doesn’t even reliably perform the basic functions of a radar detector. It was clearly not tested prior to Escort releasing it. Yet people seem to have faith Escort will perform the following tasks in a 30 day period (by July 31st):

1) Compile a list of known issues.
2) Determine the root cause for each issue.
3) Write code to fix each issue.
4) Internally test beta builds of code.
5) Field test release candidate code.
6) Finalize firmware and release to public.

Color me skeptical but I doubt Escort will perform the above tasks. If they are lucky one issue will be corrected or maybe a few issues will be ‘improved’ but not totally corrected. I hope for everyone’s sake who purchased a Redline360c I am wrong. Escort’s legacy is that it took them two years to release a firmware update for their original MAX detector. How long did it take Escort to fix the Max360 lockup issue? Look at Escort’s history at addressing issues and set one’s expectations accordingly.

You just summed it up beautifully.

How many disasters can a Chief Product officer preside over before you figure out who is the master of these disasters? Over priced under performing junk they promise to fix in the field......AGAIN. It’s not just that it wasn’t fully tested.....it wasn’t fully developed. Don’t be so sure any of these serious problems is a simple firmware fix.
