Since I just recieved @Euurx's Redline-O, I figured I'd put it through it's paces against my R3.

The results:

Thanks for testing! Anything you could point to in the environment that would have caused the one slightly shorter Redline-O run, or would you consider it a clean run?

Edit: wow, how did I miss the videos when I looked at the report page! Do this think the truck and trailer caused the short run?

Really love this test! Glad it can keep up- sadly K band is poop on the Redline-O

I think that's a plausible theory. It looks like he was in the perfect position to block the radar beam.

Considering how much older the Redline-O design is than the R3, the <10% range advantage of the R3 is surprising.
This test really demonstrates how incremental development in the RD world really is.

too bad the Redline-0 would go off constantly on a real life driving.

I have a friend that just turned off K band since "cops dont use K band in florida" god bless his soul.

Look around. There just been a recent thread where K band is very much alive and kicking in Florida.

Yes
Was just their last month..as soon as I crossed the state line I saw k band, very heavy around Orlando and WinterHaven area. Interstate 95 and rt 17

To be fair state troopers are never going to use K band.. they have a high budget to buy the more expensive toys.and all of them are KA band.

K band is preferred by cities and towns because speed enforcement is either not a priority or k band does just good enough because they have low traffic.

KA band benefits more from high traffic areas because it is better at picking up smaller targets from big ones.

Wait..... what???

I think there different benefits of Ka over K.... but the reason of picking big ones over little ones isn’t one of them.

The Redline-O was always a beast detecting stalkers. The problem with them is the soldering issue that continuously popped up and required having to send it back, only to have the same issue pop up within a year.

Thanks for posting! I'm in the process of switching from a 9500ci to a V1G2 so this makes me excited as I should see about the same range increase.

Great test results. I see that with the R3 being segmented you get better range, so if I segment my R7 I should get better range? I didn't think segmenting it affected the range.
