"View laser band, signal strength, and vehicle speed"
Wow! Not sure if they know what they are talking about, but basically by looking at the RD, you'll know what speed the ticket will be?

The fact that Escort is selling the 9500ix new for the price of a Uniden R3 is nothing short of criminal.

Hasn't this come up before? The way Escort is using the term "Artificial Intelligence" is radically different from what AI is actually about.

A GPS autolearn algorithm does involve a computer "learning" its surroundings, but that's not the same thing as true machine learning or Artificial Intelligence...

You're correct Vortex, but Escort is counting on the fact that 99% of the folks buying RD's don't understand that difference.

I showed up at a motorcycle ride with 25 other bikes.
I was the only one with a detector.
I had my old 9500ix mounted as a backup to the R7s I'm waiting for return in the mail. (I broke mine and ordered a second)
Not one person had a clue about what a good detector was.
10 questions of "Does it actually work?"

Well the definition of Artificial Intelligence is actually highly argued subject. AI and machine-learning are also two different things. AI is any "smart" computer program while machine-learning involves statistical math and creating algorithm based on training data. Perhaps when this detector was released, auto lockouts were considered very "smart" feature.

Seriously,
Couldn't Escort take this antique and sell it for the $99 range.
with the Escort name and out performing the detectors in the same price range they could keep sales going for the 9500ix another 10 years, sell a million and bank a ton of profit.
What would the price be to make 20-30% above manufacturing and distributing for the long paid for 9500ix program?
Can you imagine a budget Escort in every Walmart, truck stop and electronics store.
Marketing is missing the payday here I think.
Stop trying to fake it as a cutting edge new and competitive device.
Stick a fork into Cobra, Whistler and the like.

You and I know it's a warmed-over turd. But the public doesn't. Cobra and Escort are just two different lines produced by the same parent company. For detectors, they try to position Cobra as budget gear and Escort as premium top-shelf stuff. Back when Escort did good work and produced good products, they built a good name for themselves. The company that bought the name (along with the Cobra name and Beltronics name) has been milking that for everything its worth since then.

Did they ever get Escort Live to work properly?

Back in my original Redline days I went through a number of EL app updates on three different Android devices, and the EL app never worked right to the point I didn't continue the subscription once my free periods ran out.

I bought a hard wire and a coiled smart cord so I had 30 days free each plus Escort gave me additional free periods for my troubles. The smart cords ended up being a waste of money as a result.
