Hi all, just recently obtained a Road Scout. It came with R04, connected to WiFi per the manual to update to R05 and I receive the message that there are no updates available?

Also, my experience with both iRadar and Drive HD have been horrible! Awful useless apps that fail to connect 98% of the time and are slow and clunky... what gives?

Thinking about returning the road scout and getting something that actually works with competent support.

Escort/Cobra software apps for the phone aren't very good.

Use detector tools to update it
Thanks for the suggestion, but so far, Detector Tools does not recognize the Road Scout and the Road Scout is not listed in it's supported device list.

The Road Scout is so close to where I need it to be and do but not liking the non-existent back end support.

Alright, so I brought the RS inside the house for one more go around, and now suddenly when it connects to the wifi inside my house it finds firmware updates after trying multiple times over the past week.

Also was able to find out why the dash cam timestamp was an hour off... wasn't on DST mode for some reason (the date and time set itself the first time it connected to my iphone/bluetooth/wifi)

Automatic bluetooth connection to my iphone still seems spotty though and I still have not been successfully able to connect the RS to my iphone's wifi hotspot... so the RS will still only connect to the wifi in my house which is only good for firmware updates, and that's it.

My car is from 2007 and doesn't have an option to be a wifi hotspot... not everyone has that hardware or wants to pay for the cost of that additional set up. My phone works perfectly fine as a hotspot for everything else... not sure why Cobra can't seem to figure this one out...

First off the Cobra app I Radar & Escorts Live app are the same app. The only difference is the sign on screen. I have never heard of connecting done thru a phone only. It will connect by going thru a WiFi in a car so it must be looking for a car ID to connect. The best thing to do is to call Escort, I think you must have a paid subscription also for it to work.

Thanks for joining my thread here!

I know the iRadar and Escort Live apps are the same. The two apps I am referring to are both Cobra branded and is again, iRadar and the Drive HD app for the dash cam. I have fully paid and active accounts/memberships with Cobra/Escort as well. I've done my homework, I've done everything I am supposed to do and as instructed.

Really at this point, the only thing bumming me out is the connectivty issues. Both the spotty hit-and-miss Bluetooth connectivity and also the Wifi setup for people with older cars and or no Wifi hotspot built into their car or don't want to pay for Wifi hotspot in their car.

*sigh*

It still functions as a RD and DC and for now I'll just have to live with it functioning at 75%

The connection issue to your phone may just be how you have your phone set up for a hotspot. For instance, it would have to be set for 2.5ghz WiFi, allow ad-hoc connections etc...... You could try to play with those settings. I know some phones won't connect to my phone's hotspot with certain settings.
