This idea would be especially hard considering the amount of digital trunking radio systems in use around the world. P25,NXDX,Tetra,DMR just to name a few.
Potentially DMR? But it would be very area specific and require ALOT of work. Lots of open source code already written for DMR decoding...
All i got at the moment is my Kustom Falcon gun @ (Kband) 24.150, that is in the log.
There was some deviation, stinger was reading it from 24.150 to 24.148 ish

I was told years ago it’s not USB but some else less prone to interference.
USB would have made way more sense, in the years of VIP’s development USB 2.0 was common, USB 3 was even 2010.

Got some communications to my spare CPU using (RS232 - 115200 Baud Rate)
Seems to be repeating the same pattern of HEX over and over (06 06 00 1E)
Quite possibly garbage signal atm as it has similar patterns on other bauds rates.

Did a test it to see if it was talking TTL/UART Serial, this didn't work, but had some illumination of the RX on the Arduino lol

Very Interesting, tested the type B sockets on the VIP CPU
13.8Vdc, unregulated straight from the battery to the HD Patch and any other accessories.
Have a lab power supply so adjusted the voltage, output on the Type B moves with the input

Its quite possibly serial (RS232) comms.
Similar to the old school PC mouse with a larger 9 pin connector.
U can buy a RPI hat to connect.

The HD patch is the least updated part in the stinger eco system.
Also the HD can still be downgraded, if paired with a lower (non locked) firmware.
I don’t believe the Stinger CPU is really doing a lot, it’s just there to handle GPS lockouts.

Thinking they might have swapped out the 9629 in the HD+ version for something a bit more powerful.

I have installed a new SD with a blank image written to it, going to perform the upgrade again and see if those sectors on the SD are currupt.
As for the hardware side of things have u considered connecting the HD to a RPI...
Check flash can do a physical DD dump into image for of a SD card, its not checking its attempting to dump.
I have tried all my software, even R-Studio which can deal with ext2 partitions and it still the same, bad sectors, non recoverable
Ill fire up linux and see if i can get it that way...
