Overthinking or is the range too low on my R3...

I keep forgetting to move it. I actually played around with a 34.7 signal while parked and moved the detector downwards with my hand and it didn’t seem to affect the detection. I’ve been putting off moving it as I’m getting a new car soon lol, but I definitely should. 1617132854 Down in GA they...

Overthinking or is the range too low on my R3...

a Unfortunately, the Raptor is becoming more and more popular. I think it’s because it’s fairly cheap and is smaller than the other dash mounted front and rear radar setups. I don’t think the Ka version is heavily marketed. I’ve only really seen that version in use by the NHSP

Overthinking or is the range too low on my R3...

Thanks for all the info guys! I feel a lot better. I will surely adjust the mount. That 2 bar detection came in moderate traffic with plenty of stuff around so who the hell knows. I also forgot about low powered K. In My area, it’s all Kustom Signals some Im sure it’s all Falcons or Raptors...

Overthinking or is the range too low on my R3...

Got a great deal on a USED r3 as an upgrade for my DFR7. Been running it for a couple months and it has failed to impress me. Had a couple detections today that made me uneasy. First was I\O from a MO trooper. Saw him in a construction zone littered with K falses (will be posting a warning...

Rolling I/O getting really bad in MO with HP.... and 35.5 detected

I thought that unmarked cars were not allowed for traffic stops with state? But yeah, Waze saved me from getting popped by an F250 Super Duty shooting laser on an overpass in Crawford County I believe. Why a huge truck would shoot laser with no chase car is beyond me but maybe it was commercial...

Rolling I/O getting really bad in MO with HP.... and 35.5 detected

I have had multiple detections from the Missouri Highway Patrol in the past month and they all have been rolling I/O these guys are top notch and not lazy. They pace or scout out potential targets from behind and bam they nail them from behind with I/o. Just a fair warning as I’m noticing this...

    Radar Detector Recommendation for Chrisrizzy

That’s exactly what she’ll say. She thinks these detectors beg thieves to break in... Her favorite quote is “I have been driving for many years and I have a good grip on the environment I’m always scanning” Yeah, I’m sure you saw that cop on the shoulder, but he already has your speed. I just...

    Radar Detector Recommendation for Chrisrizzy

I want to keep it and repurpose it. There are two people in my household that need countermeasures. My mother, for example, frequently drives 15-20+ PSL and refuses to use CMs and believes they “don’t work”. Maybe gifting this to her may change her mind. No one should drive 20+ PSL with no...

    ka band false with dfr7

I wouldn’t recommend using a Ka filter as plenty of guns fall out of range. What you’re likely experiencing is interference from someone else’s detector on the road “leaking” frequency

    Radar Detector Recommendation for Chrisrizzy

Thanks for the recs everyone! I think I’ll definitely step up to the R side soon! I’ve seen some great deals around for them as well :). Let’s hope that my DFR7 keeps me safe until then lol

    Radar Detector Recommendation for Chrisrizzy

I really think your best value and user experience would be to get a nice used R3 deal. Thanks. That was also what I was considering. Seems like an R series detector will stay strong and useful for years to come as well. Do they prioritize Ka over K? I’d like that feature. Are they quieter than...

Waze removing police report option in some countries!!

I used Waze for 15+ hours and it worked great, just not a lot of cop activity

    Just bought my first radar!

Welcome to RDF! The R7 is a great choice and one of the best detectors on the market. As a fellow native to the area, I can give you some pointers on potential threats across the STL metro (also check RDFGS). Keep in mind that K band is still used in a couple of areas, especially Webster Groves...

Waze removing police report option in some countries!!

Honestly, I think Waze just gets bogged down and clogged with data on your phones. This likely causes issues with functionality. Try going to your apps and clearing the cache for Waze and stopping the app every so often. I had issues with it Thursday and that did that trick.

Anyone know what radar is used in the infamous Estelline? (pic attached)

I would also note that MPH K band antennas don't have caps on the front (sorry I don't know the correct jargon for that). This antenna appears to have a silver cap on it. MPH usually is no cap and all white with a black ring.

Anyone know what radar is used in the infamous Estelline? (pic attached)

Thanks. I had no idea that was a Decatur unit. I was thrown off by the grey antenna. 1590270476 Yeah they literally exist for the purpose of tickets to keep the revenue going to their shitty city hall. From what I read it's way more than 2k monthly. The officer makes at least $50k from what I read.

Anyone know what radar is used in the infamous Estelline? (pic attached)

I recently read about the infamous panhandle speed trap in Estelline. I was trying to figure out what equipment they used there, but couldn't find a good pic anywhere online. I did find a pic of their old Charger (Mustang GT is used now) and would love to know what the radar unit is. It kind of...

No Alert from Regular Speed Trailer?

I know it's not ticket worthy, I was just curious. My exact thoughts were that it's far off in frequency. 1590107562 I'm usually out that way, so I'll see if I can get a pic

No Alert from Regular Speed Trailer?

Drove by a regular old speed trailer today and nothing from my DFR7 even though the sign read my speed. I was like huh? Then I thought it could be X or a wide K. I decided to enable X Band, turn off k filter, enable K wide. Still, no alert. I am really puzzled as to how my detector wouldn't pick...
