    V1 G2 flicker and clicking

I tried muting with the RAA & CD; the RAA seems to mute just fine. The CD will control the volume, but it doesn't seem to mute the V1G2 every time that. For my setup (using the RAA & CD) it makes sense that the RAA has better control over muting, and it's possible that I am missing something...

    I can't make up my mind - V1Gen2 or new RL360C

"Best features" are very subjective; I would not use the lockouts built-in to any RD. Although I may be in the minority I'm not alone. RE The new Escort: Have they fixed all of its problems? That's not meant to be a snarky retort; it's a real question.

    V1 G2 flicker and clicking

Yes, I have had multiple issues with muting with the VR's CD too. I am also using a RAA, so that may have something to do with it. I bought the RAA mainly to have the famous "knob and ring." I use it (RAA) a lot more than the CD to mute, change settings (A, l or L) and adjust volume, but I...

    I can't make up my mind - V1Gen2 or new RL360C

1595071823 1595072028 1595073510 Someone also mentioned bid screen TVs & the Super Bowl...that is SO true. I worked for a retail store that sold (at that time) some of the best TVs available...Pioneer Elite, Fujitsu etc. We had less expensive sets too. This (buying a TV & returning right...

V1G2 Ka Freq Range Settings Upstate NY

I used to live in Kenmore. Seemed like every car (& there are a lot of them considering how small it is) always ran C/O Ka.

Sticky Cup's Not To Good In Sun

I've never had a problem with VR's suction cup mounts in >20 years of using them. Maybe I am just lucky? FWIW I rarely take the suction cup/window mount part off of my windshield. I clean the window well, attach the mount to the windshield and slide the RD in/out of the actual mount. This is...

What Was Your First Radar Detector

I'm not worried about insulting the manufacturer, but there are probably members of this forum who use this brand. I don't want to stir up trouble by insulting their RD. I'd be happy to PM the info if you want it. EDIT: The fact that the model is 30+ years old IS a valid point.

What Was Your First Radar Detector

Mine was a POS that I won't name here as the company is represented on this forum. It was SO bad that it didn't have a signal strength meter or different tones for X & K! After that it was a Uniden or Cobra. I eventually graduated to the original Escort (yes I am THAT old!) to a Passport then...

    Announcing SEAL

Not at all! 😊 I was just agreeing with you & wanted to emphasize that the donation is MY decision. I didn't want anyone to feel as if they're being pressured into a giving a donation.

I concur which is why I made sure to add the "from me!"

    Announcing SEAL

I made a donation when I decided that I was going to use JBV1, but I agree that another one is due from me!

Best data only plan (or Car router) for JBV1?

Lots of great ideas! Thanks! I ASSUME (??)that the free 200MB (Freedom Pop) is with a phone plan? I have to agree with Consumer Cellular's prices. We recently switched to CC and, on top of 2 phones got unlimited texts & calls, got 3X data (3G) than our old plan AND cut our bill ~in half. Our...

    Has RD Range Maxed Out?

I don't disagree at all; I don't think that I ever have stated that it's the wrong path or that it won't produce a great RD. The main claim that I doubt is ZERO false alerts. I actually hope that I am wrong. It would be GREAT to have a RD that only alerts to Leos...add best ever sensitivity...

    Has RD Range Maxed Out?

1st: I commend you for that. 2nd: I pretty sure that Valentine Research is privately owned too. 3rd: didn't you previous imply that Escort spends more money on development than your company? It was something like, '(Radenso) spends more money on development than any company except maybe...

    Has RD Range Maxed Out?

Did you found Radenso or buy the company? IDK if Radenso is on the stock market (I honestly don't know) but if it is it's probably "owned by bankers..." too. If it isn't a public stock good for you (NOT meant ironically). Also, a better analogy for this forum would have been comparing Chevy (or...

Best data only plan (or Car router) for JBV1?

Can someone recommend a router (OR data only plan) for running JBV1 in my car? ~3G should be more than enough data. My phone's data isn't unlimited and is shared with my GF. I do have an older (not OLD...fully functional) phone that I have made my JBV1 phone. Currently I tether it to my main...

    Has RD Range Maxed Out?

FWIW-IF Theia lives up to the hype (ZERO falses and much better range) not only will I admit it in writing on this forum, I will also buy one. We'll see. I could certainly be wrong.

    Has RD Range Maxed Out?

I believe that I mentioned "to a lesser extent" with regard to Escort. The point remains that people who will spend >$400 on a RD WILL pay to have the best. There are companies that fill that need. Sony (or Technics) to Krell (or BAT) again.

    Has RD Range Maxed Out?

and several of those companies are GONE or going. You're also referring to companies that, for the most part, sold mass production items. HP RDs are a more niche market for people who demand the best. It's like comparing Sony audio to Krell.

    Has RD Range Maxed Out?

I posted something similar not too long ago. I believe that we may see slight range improvements but mainly better filtering w/o reducing that range. As for the Theia: Escort made very similar claims. I don't mean ANY offense, but I somehow doubt that it will turn 'all other RDs to legacy RDs."...
