Yup, see above, 24.020 is what I clocked it as, right as you come in to Wellsford, was a a bit of surprise - thanks R7forNZ @Mithheru , saved the day once more :)
On a related note, a similar idea could be applied to the R7 to 'right hand drive convert' the detector - just new front section of the case which houses the screen etc... It may require a ribbon cable extender, but I don't think that would be a major - such a kit could make a nice addition to...
Another siting this week, White Hyundai I-load van @ 24.020 on SH1 in Wellsford.
Overall I saw a ridiculous amount of speed enforcement on my Rotorua-Paihia trip this week (conference in Waitangi), last leg back from Auckland to Rotorua later today, and I'm sure there will be more to see. It...
I saw a silver one of those on SH2 near Tauranga, gave me a real surprise while trying to work out where the Ka was coming from, and then I remembered reading on here about the new Holden Equinoxes... This site is great!
I thought the silver was a particularly stealthy colour, very innocuous...
I've also had a few frights there as I don't drive past often enough to always remember about the track radar. It would be a good place for a unmarked cop car to stalk waiting for radar users who know about the track Ka false... ;)
That's what I though too, I found it rather amusing.
As for the Lidar vs Ka gun and not lying vs lying (or omission), I really wouldn't put it past them, and from what I saw on Thursday I think there is definitely room to be sceptical. I had no idea at the time that it was anything potentially...
I absolutely agree, although I had a fright yesterday while driving north on SH1 near Pokeno. I was doing about 110 in right hand lane amongst a group of other vehicles travelling at similar speed, I suddenly had a low K-band alert at 24.008 (thanks again @Mithheru !), I braked down to about 104...
I'm fairly certain, but you could be right too. It was about 300 metres down the road from where I was buying some lunch. I detected Ka from aways' off, and was looking for the patrol car when saw the vehicle which had been waved down, with an officer leaning in the window, but no patrol car...
@Mithheru '?? Colour / Make ??? - Te Puna near Tauranga (K Band 24.016 - Detection confirmed on R7 @KiwiClaire )"
This was dark blue VW van (sorry about the lack of details in that post.
I've since seen another on Vaughan Road in Rotorua (just outside of my workplace) this time a dark green VW...
Lol, I do not know how you manage it! I typically get a Ka band detection within about 10 minutes of entering the 'city' limits, it's crazy. It is also a relatively rare trip too or from work (13 min drive across town) where I don't get a detection.
I think you could potentially market your...
Same here in Rotorua, even cruising around town in relatively heavy traffic - it's quite funny and utterly pointless if you have a RD with reasonable detection range...
Vaughn Road (where my work is located) is probably the most dangerous road in town. It's quiet, wide, largely straight with...
The most recent Redflex (Te Puna near Tauranga) was on 24.016.
Wow, I hadn't heard that news (R7 auto lockouts), pretty neat! Looking forward to seeing how that pans out - thanks for letting me know! :)
I can report two excellent Redflex saves in the last couple of weeks running @Mithheru 's R7 for NZ firmware. The latest was really impressive, I estimate around 400m warning with the van pointing in the opposite direction to my direction of travel - plenty of time to check frequency and 'hit...
Pretty much, probably a case of some bored cops too lol. This town is a bit of strange one as far a police density though, I've seen many more police in 6 months here than during over 6 years living in Auckland (New Zealand's largest city).
It's a pretty cool place though - it's the only city...
Sorry, wry humour is a little tricky to convey via text.. My intention was to just convey the incredibly heavy usage of Ka band, and very significant number of police vehicles in this town - but in a sightly silly way ; ) I'm not actually worried about Ka band screen burn in lol. Definitely a...
So after moving to Rotorua 6 months ago, I'm starting to worry that I will have a Ka band alert permanently burned in on the screen of R7. Dark mode will not help you in this town - the almost constant Ka-band detections will constantly light the screen up regardless. The only thing to do is to...
Holy crap, that's a lot of roads! Several of which I would be reasonably happy to drive at close to double the new limit if weather and traffic conditions were appropriate.
Yes, absolutely, although I'm sure there is some compromise based on what Attowave would be willing to invest into R&D, development etc. which would also depend on how much Uniden is willing to pay. This may be why we see Uniden BSM filtering somewhat lagging behind hardware performance compared...
