Its the year 2020 Yet there's no perfect Radar Detector - Why not?

@Moderators Please lock every future repetitive/troll thread until Theia is released, otherwise some of us here are going to have to take a break from the forum for a few months. I'd have been joking if I said that a month ago but now I'm actually fairly serious. We're just being increasingly...

    Looking for Jack recommendations

To a certain extent, but definitely do not get under the car while positioning your jackstands. Don't get under the car until two stands AND the jack are securely in place. As well as a wheel if you're going to be removing it anyway.

    Looking for Jack recommendations

HF jacks are fine. You don't trust your life to a jack. Don't buy HF jack stands though.

    24.197 Close call

I've heard this claim about the Uniden system as well. I've seen no evidence of this in my own usage of the feature, so I don't know if I believe it, just remarking on what I'd heard. Perhaps a bug?

    24.197 Close call

Some have claimed that a strong enough signal in the K block range will punch through. Certainly detection is extremely impeded though if not disabled completely.

Question around first batch of Theia

No, you definitely should not have said that. I'm afraid you've just added more fuel to the fire under the gang of Theia V2 anticipators who will inevitably start multiple 1000+ post threads about Theia V2 immediately after Theia V1's release. Everyone better get their popcorn ready.

Question around first batch of Theia

Some members here frequently drive 30 or more over the PSL on their trips to Mexico. Sometimes substantially more.

Question around first batch of Theia

Here we go again with the “we don’t need more range” angle. Maybe you don’t. A lot of us do.

    Theia - New Feature Request

I have another feature request for Theia. Can it have the ability to interfere with the radar cruise control in the car behind you and force their car to panic brake on the highway? Good tailgater solution. Plus I don't see any potential liability issues with this feature. 1599501657 Not all of...

    Theia - New Feature Request

That's seriously stupid and dangerous. I'd either 1) slow way down and force him to pass me or 2) speed way up and leave him behind. Would pick between these based on how much of a hurry I was in, road conditions, the current speed and what car I was driving.

Does getting range mean punch through?

Most jammers will not jam a rangefinder. Doesn't have much to do with its performance against lidar guns.

    RF section of Theia

I don’t ever drive more than 65 mph. Why would I want to buy a car that can go more than 65 mph? It would cost more and would not be as optimized for slow driving.

Question around first batch of Theia

What does this even mean? The detector adds functionality that no other windshield mount has. If Theia could do your laundry, fill your cavities, and invest your money in the stock market for a 20% return, would it still not be worth $1000 because it’s “still a windshield-mounted radar...

Cheapest RD for alerting against C/O

From my understanding TX has mostly somewhat reasonable speed limits. Better than our east coast limits for sure. Of course no one wants to drive slow but if you can't afford a good RD you can't afford to drive fast. Speeding is a pay-to-play game. Those on this forum who've played the game...

Cheapest RD for alerting against C/O

Unpopular opinion: Anyone with a $100 max budget for a RD has no business speeding at all, let alone driving like @Ohioluck who's spent thousands protecting his car plus having the knowledge and situational awareness to supplement that. If you can't afford a decent RD you sure as hell cannot...
