    TXCTG - V1G2 v R7 v Falcon HR Low-powered K off-axis and through foliage 05-31-2020

Thanks for the test. I like the presentation style - if it's easier for you (especially when it's a head-to-head comparo) - keep at it!

How to bypass the AT&T Fiber residential gateway

So... this solution didn't work with a Netgear router. This solution didn't work with a TPLink router. For whatever reason, both of them would slow down the speeds to the ~60Mbps range. But like Deacon, this works with an Asus for me also! I bought a different model - an Asus AC-3100, which has...

    V1G2 Mute Question - with a bit of V1Driver

I'm not asking if it's lacking. I'm not saying it's good or bad. I'm simply asking: can V1G2 when paired with V1Driver alert at two, or three, volume levels?

    V1G2 Mute Question - with a bit of V1Driver

I use V1Driver. But I think you can only get two volume settings - not three. I hope I'm wrong - if so, tell me how!

How to bypass the AT&T Fiber residential gateway

So it sounds like the choices are (assuming I'm not doing proxies and NetGraph and LINUX and etc... I just want easily-optimized internet): 1) Use Deacon's solution in the OP, everything in the house runs off WiFi. Pro's: Fast WiFi and "unclogged" internet responsiveness. Con's: Nothing...

    V1G2 Mute Question - with a bit of V1Driver

Caveat #1: No such thing as a stupid question, right? Well, I'm pushing my luck around here lately I believe, oh well :) Caveat #2: I am NOT trying to make this a "V1 vs ____" thread. But, I will need to reference other products. Here goes: On other detectors/apps (E.g. Escort and Uniden...

How to bypass the AT&T Fiber residential gateway

I'm back! So - it was definitely the router. MUCH better WiFi responsiveness all throughout the house. I have a new question though... Previously, I had a few other hard connections tied into the RG (E.g. a Smart TV). Should there be a way to keep using those? Whether I'm plugging the ethernet...

Step 3 is no bueno. It's the router.

How to bypass the AT&T Fiber residential gateway

It's something wrong with the router probably. Grrr. https://community.netgear.com/t5/Nighthawk-WiFi-Routers/R9000-X10-Nighthawk-Finally-the-last-straw/td-p/1877541 https://community.netgear.com/t5/Nighthawk-WiFi-Routers/R9000-Slowed-Internet-Speed/td-p/1614582 I chose this one because of its...

How to bypass the AT&T Fiber residential gateway

Something funky is going on with the router... Update: As I post this with no RG in use!, it is physically like this: the same wire that was feeding the RG's ONT is now feeding slot 5 in the powered switch. It is the same powered switch Deacon recommended above - a Netgear GS305, which supports...

How to bypass the AT&T Fiber residential gateway

Thank you much Deacon. You will send me back to my rump later today... The router has current firmware and it supposedly can blast 7.2Gbps. So my first thought is: it's the cables. I have CAT 6, but I also have CAT5/5e around. I'm not sure what I used between the powered switch and the router...

V1G2 not powering on. Second time - same detector

No communication whatsoever. I'll pull the repair sheet but it simply says... "repair" or something like that.

How to bypass the AT&T Fiber residential gateway

Not using a USG. I have the capability... but not the motivation... to do a wired test :)

V1G2 not powering on. Second time - same detector

Mine is among the repaired. It "blips" every so often but... it doesn't lose bluetooth connection or "re-start" - it just kinda flashes off real quick and makes one audible "click" sound. I don't have a GoPro or anything to catch it. Happens randomly, perhaps approximately once per 30 minutes.

How to bypass the AT&T Fiber residential gateway

I have gigabit service. All that is hard-wired in is the TV and the DirecTV box. I have a gaming computer across the house, but I use a powerline adapter to feed that; I'm not going to dismount a monitor and drag them out to test internet speed. None of my other devices/computers don't have...

How to bypass the AT&T Fiber residential gateway

Hmmm... I tried two methods of connecting my WiFi router: 1) @Deacon 's 2) This: In both ways, it choked off WiFi speed to ~20% of what the RG cranks out at a similar distance. Darnit.

How to bypass the AT&T Fiber residential gateway

@Deacon - could you share links to the two pieces of hardware you're using? I'm not so much worried about optimized performance - but if I could blast a stronger WiFi signal I'd be interested in using a solution that is different than AT&T's.

    V1 Internal Revision Pictures

Curious - how can you determine the nomenclature of the boards (i.e. Rev C & Rev F as opposed to Rev 1 & Rev 2).

V1G2 issues- Does not power on.

I think I may have stumbled upon something. So since I got my repaired unit, I've noticed that V1Driver doesn't connect as quickly (at least the first few startups). Went into Bluetooth settings and let's have a look-see: Hmmm... two Bluetooth choices? I only downloaded V1Driver after having...
