    Brainstorming Theia testing ideas

Quick trigger / instant on reaction time will need to be tested as well - we're seeing that as a big place where filters can hamper performance even among otherwise high performing detectors (i.e. V1G2). With Theia's potential ability to separately distinguish I/O shots based on the power-on...

    Testing rarely tested radar detectors?

The thing about "detectors of the 9500 vintage" is that they are still being sold brand new from Escort today for $300!

    Testing rarely tested radar detectors?

Have you considered spending some significant time with any of these detectors now that you've put the V1 through its paces? The iXc or one of the cheaper escorts would be a candidate in my book. I doubt there is much data on sales in the RD industry, but some real world day-to-day experience...

    Testing rarely tested radar detectors?

I also think the iXc is definitely worth testing and even comparing directly against the Max 360c. On paper/escort's website it doesn't appear to be down many features vs the Max series, and might be picked by a non-enthusiast with the expectation of it being a Max 360c without arrows, but of...

    Testing rarely tested radar detectors?

I like the idea of testing something like a 9500ix (or whatever the equivalent is today). Tons of those have been sold, and plenty of folks may have one either as a hand-me-down, for a second car, or even a primary car (if it ain't broke don't fix it).

    V1 Gen2 Review

The R7 provides the ability to adjust sensitivity by a percentage. It is useful information to know at what % sensitivity setting on the R7 that the range is = to the V1G2. I don't think that information needs to be hidden so as to not offend V1ers. And being familiar with the characteristics...

    V1 Gen2 Review

If I am understanding @DrHow correctly, he is saying that he does in fact go fill binders on every little 1 bar beep for Ka band. This seems like an unreasonable expectation to me, but if that is how one must react given the V1G2 Ka band limitations, then V1 should really change the V1 tone to...

    V1 Gen2 Review

I do own a G2. "Reacts just fine" is very much not the consensus when it comes to I/O performance. When dealing with constant on or BSM falses I'm happy with the alert ramp-up. BSM falses will ususally blip on and then off at a low signal reading instead of going from 0 to full-tilt like they...

    V1 Gen2 Review

My suspicion is that the I/O ramp is directly related to the BSM filtering. The lazy initial reporting of BSM falses that make the V1G2 so comfortable in traffic even during a signal punch through are probably at odds with immediate full-tilt reporting of I/O. Which makes me concerned about...

V1G2 doesn't like the heat of 80 degrees and sunlight.

I'm a few pages late to this thread, so sorry if this has already been litigated, but.... WOW... I'm honestly shocked that they are turning people down on refunds. During the shutdown everyone here was quick to say that of course they would allow refunds after the 30 days once they opened back...

    V1 RF Board Pics

I wouldn't be surprised if Mike V did a personal review of Vortex's unit before sending it back given his YouTube followers. I'll be curious to see some other users repaired boards as well as new (presumably Rev E) RF boards on units ordered today. 1588718180 I also have a theory on the poor RF...

    V1 RF Board Pics

See my post quoted below from earlier in this thread for pictures of my V1Gen2 RF Board. I have owned Escort, Radenso, and now Valentine1 products and certainly have no affiliation with Jon or Radenso.

    V1 RF Board Pics

Guess the mods got tired of @Jon at Radenso talking about the V1? Shouldn't we be happy that the CEO of a radar detector company is excited to engage with the RDF community instead of trying to silence him when he talks about anything other than his own products? Or would everyone prefer the...

    V1 RF Board Pics

I've never seen internal pictures of the Pro-M, but the Escort Max 360c sure looks a lot better than the V1G2 on the inside. And the "looks" that people are talking about on these solder joints are not about a cool design or being high tech or something like your Mercedes vs Crown Vic analogy...

    Is your V1G2 still OK?

There was not any loctite, paint, stickers, etc on mine that would indicate to valentine that I opened my unit up. The T7 bolts are small and easily stripped though, so be careful. But unless you make a major mess of them, there's no way to be sure that they weren't stripped by whoever tightened...

    V1 RF Board Pics

Took my horn apart and snapped some pics of the RF board. It is marked as a "Rev C" (same as the board on top). I'll let folks with more experience looking at these boards speak to what they see before I give my thoughts, but I will say this: the cpu board on top looks way more professionally...

    V1 RF Board Pics

This type of stuff is typically done in China now-a-days, is it not? Are there even subcontractors in Cincinnati that do this type of work? My guess is that Mike V is less involved in the day to day operations these days and whoever does manage the day to day made a call to push these out the...

Escort Passport (Cincinnati Microwave) Board Pics

Good point. I don't own one anymore to compare, but I bet they are close. It's probably thicker and maybe little wider? 1587674703 Found a picture online of Cincinnati Microwave's spread spectrum cordless phone, Escort 9000. Anyone ever encounter one of these in real life...
