I'd rather pay @Mithheru directly for his time and expertise to upgrade my US version of the R3 than being raped by the local "official" supplier that offer a sub-standand service. The last thing I'd want to do as a customer is pay $1000 to a supplier that won't offer future upgrades or tell me...
A response from an official NZ Uniden supplier in regards to updating an locally purchased R3 to include the wider K band limits.... (2021 version)

Hi, I'm interested in the R3 over the R7 due to it's size, it'll be fitted on my Motorcycle as well as my car, the R7 is to bulky to fit to a KTM Super Duke. I also thought the later model R3 would be better than the older DFR9 due to it updated mounting bracket.
