    The conditions were just too good to pass up: I ended up returning the DFR8 for a new R3 for $230 after use of gift cards. Looking to hardwire next to my dash cam on an eBay permanent mount.

    Thanks for the tips. I watched most of Vortex’s overview and while the DFR9 was detected by spectre at max sensitivity, it should be fairly stealth for a journey through VA. My setup includes a dedicated phone running waze on WiFi.
