Gosh, the list is starting to get long. :(
It's the first production of the new detector so problems are inevitable. I'm sure they sold hundreds of detectors already if not at least a thousand so 17 known of 1000 is a very small percentage ;)

Normally when a new detector comes out, like the R1's and R3's for example, I'll wait six months to a year till the bugs get worked out. I've had great luck by doing that as I own 5 R1's and they are all killers with zero issues. Since my V1G1 was as dependable as an anvil, it didn't even cross my mind that the V1G2 would have any issues. So far mine is perfect but I'm just waiting for it to stop powering on everytime I start my car just like @VariableWave 's did. I'll be glad when I can fully trust it, because it is a pure monster and does everything I could ever want especially with JBV1!

Or there could be more. We just don't really know since everyone who owns a V1 unfortunately is not on RDfourm.

Well I have been a V-1 user long enough that the first one I had was about 3" thick. No idea what year that was. Probably had about six total units over the years. Only problem I have ever had was Power Jack wearing out from taking it on/off my sport bikes over the years. Valentine has always take care of units. So I will wait patiently for my G2 to ship, I hope soon.
Meanwhile, I will continue to count on my V1G1 to do its job. Only issue I have is wife has a fit when it sounds off. I have been stopped twice for 40+ mph in a 25 when the volume turned to hear alert. Interesting thing is both times when I presented my Driver License and CCW permit as required by Ohio law, I was let off with a warning. Of course I am 70+ years old, and drive a Hot Rod Durango. Think I will look at remote display directly in front of me, as current location is above rear view mirrow and hard to see in daylight!

Great job keeping track of these. Never good when a new product has issues, especially one of powering on. It did seem it was rushed to the consumer, no website, no manual, no unit to known testers ex. Vortex, not sure why it was launched this way...

As the others already alluded to, we are only tracking those issues by RDF members. There clearly must be a considerable number of defective units beyond our knowledge and tracking. That said, I totally agree that this is normal, and part of the deal when coming out with a brand new product. That's why I'm waiting a few months for things to shake out. I'm confident Mike and the V1 team are looking at these issues closely and working hard to find solutions ASAP.

They aren't all failing. Thankfully, and touching wood.

To give RDF members early access? The general public weren't informed of the Gen 2 in advance. MV didn't have to let us in, he could have said to wait for the launch.

Yeah, it wasn't rushed to the consumer. We got a one week head start before the release went live.

my front display plastic housing was not lining up with the housing, found the housing screw was not fully tightened in the front. tightened it up to fix the case extending below the front panel

@Vancity23 , every new product "has issues." To speak intelligently about this you really should know how many shipped and of that number how many failed. No electronic product ships with a zero failure rate. That's why we have warranties. I keep my Gen1 in the car for backup. That isn't lack of confidence in the G2 as I did the same in the car that is equipped with directional NRDSP. Simply being prepared.
