This was a little weird. The alert never really had any urgency. I know as well as anyone that there can be many reasons for a short alert, so I'm posting it here so you all can postulate. I'm also going to see if I can get out and field test my V1. I'm always paranoid about a new detector until it proves itself so this could be a bit of that too.

Looks like he was running 2 antennas.

Opposite side on-ramp on the shoulder?

How far apart were the frequencies? I would've expected it to at least go to full alert when you were LOS ~0:06 if he was running front antenna. Maybe there was a second LEO passing by on the highway you crossed?

beginning of video, on ramp to the left?
the signal is so weird on that one.

Yep, opposite on ramp
34.737 and 34.707
It's possible there was one on the other highway of course but I'm worried it was the guy on the shoulder. I'm looking at more JBV1 logs now to see if I was even getting full alerts from my Talon that I shot it with before I left on the 220 mile trip I took today.

Based on the JBV1 logs, I think it's even less likely the alert came from that on-ramp... Not sure where he was though, maybe under the overpass? Or one of those parking lots off to your right?

I hope so.

I checked back through my alert log for when I hit it with my Talon this morning. 1 bar of strength...... :hmm:I just hit it really quick twice but I would think it should be more than a bar at pretty much point blank range.

@InsipidMonkey , can you hit yours with one of your Ka guns and see if it goes bonkers right away or ramps up over time. It's possible I'm just not used to how this thing ramps.

With that weak of a signal I find it hard to believe it came from him over by the on ramp. Could have been running his rear antenna C/O and maybe I/O on the front when needed?

That might be possible. His angle doesn't look good for front facing shots. The signal strength would make more sense if he had is rear on and never used his front........

I wonder if that's what happened and the second frequency is the multiple bogey/ghosting/overdriving problem that others have seen?

With my Talon, the fastest QT shot I can do gives a 1 bar alert. Longer shots increase the strength of the alert up to 5 bars. This is with firing the gun into the rear floorboard.

I just went back outside and checked mine again. Mine does the same except it really doesn't take a fast finger to keep it at 1 bar. It reacts and alerts immediately but I have to hold it for 2 to 4 seconds to get it to ramp all the way up It must be artificially delaying the rampup based on time. It needs to weigh strength more than time. If it's full blast, in the kill zone I/O, which a point blank shot should qualify as, it should make me crap my pants, not take a couple seconds to ramp up.

I can assume that a leo sitting in this position isn't looking for super fast QT shots either. So it makes sense that is wasn't the front antenna transmitting from what I can gather.

Sounds like something is going on there. Agree that it wants to see the signal strength for a certain amount of time to truly ramp up.

I wonder if it would be any different at a more realistic range? The Ka reactivity is certainly super quick, but you're right that it does seem to take awhile to ramp up given such a strong signal.

Yeah, that's the next step, testing at a longer distance. If this does this artificial ramp-up at range too that's no bueno for me. 90% of what I face is selective I/O on 35.5 from Sherriffs that know what they are doing.

Also, when I hit it quick, it just gives me one bogey at my gun's frequency. When I hold it, it has the ghosting/overdriving bogeys all over the place at different frequencies......like you said, maybe range will help.

Here's what all the ghosting/overdriving looks like in JBV1.

Actual gun frequency is 35.508

Hmm, I'm running little "l". I did see some 34.7 ghosting when I was running custom frequencies, but after doing a reset and disabling X band it's been near perfect.

If I've got a few minutes tomorrow I'll see what happens in All bogies and logic mode.
