Whoops, forgot the straight on shot. This is USB to the right, small button up.

One thing I love about RDF is we have truly have some talent from installations, custom installs/mounts/brackets and now a custom concealed display. This thing looks top notch and maybe one of the few positive things to come from the coronavirus lockdowns.

Nice job @OBeerWANKenobi. I assume the four screws are positioned just outside the circuit board. Is the printed material strong enough to make a "snap together" type case? If so, the screws could probably be eliminated and the case made be a bit smaller.

Thanks!
Yeah, I've had bad luck in the past trying to print the "snap together" style cases. The snaps end up being too brittle, especially with the tiny size that would be required for this job. If we were injection molding, along with a few other design changes, snaps would work pretty well I think.

It's not for sure that snaps couldn't be made to work even with 3d printing this case but I'd probably have to mess with several iterations and for now, screws are simple and they work. They're hidden on the back side and the only size increase from using screws instead of snaps is the long way. I'd still need the material across the short sides for snaps.

The red X is marking the gray color of the actual board. You can see there is only about 2mm of space on either side of it.

Thanks. Looks like it's already about as small as possible.

How much will one of these be? The only changes I would make would be to have the bands in the same order as the V1 and have the option of a blue display :)

Ask and you shall receive. (also fixed the order of the bands, thanks for letting me know)

This is looking awesome!

Would this be an alternative to the concealed display but with the band display? Is this something that would be sold complete or something we would have to purchase ourselves, put together and 3D print the case and just download the software/firmware?

Could we have different colors for different frequencies? I love JBV1 but that's a big feature I miss from YaV1 that I would love to have back.

You have me thinking back to my YAV1 days. I can't even remember what color codes I was using for the three main Ka bands. Of course, there's green for X band, yellow for K band, and red for Ka band now with JBV1. I must have been using red for 33.8, blue for 34.7 and violet for 35.5. Of course, we'll have the frequency display too.

Yeah this was my theme with YaV1. I much prefer setting colors for frequency (using boxes) over voice alerts. Added benifit is alerts outside the boxes do not get a color, making cobra falses very quick to identify.

Today's update:
  • Fixed a couple software bugs
  • Started implementing an all threats display
  • More work on the configuration webserver
  • Went to a multi-partition system to make it easier to customize images or webserver pages
  • Created new OTA update notifications and install progress bar
  • Smooth auto brightness control
Getting close to a software version 0.1 that can get beta tested. Maybe 6 or 7 things left on the to do list.

OBeerWANKenobi is working on the case design and we are printing and testing to see what works best.

Here's a video demoing the auto brightness :

thanks

Looks awesome. I have a friend here who is deep into 3D printing, I know he has a few printers. I could buy a screen and get the file for the case and see what happens. let me know if there's anything i can do to help.
