My V1G2 won’t start up anymore, as soon as I plug it in, makes a tick sound, the display flashes and then just darkness. Will try to get a video at some point today but pretty odd, I was already thinking of not keeping it, and this kinda turned me off to it even more.

Plugged into a different car?
Car on or off?
If hardwired, tried cig adapter?
Try a different cig adapter?
Try a different cable?

Let us know

Cig adapter tried in 2 different cars, will try the mirror tap I’ve been using with my max 360c later today when I get the video up. That’ll be a third car. I’ll also try a different cig adapter.
Car both on and off.

Here’s a crappy video I got just now

Same issue with mirrortap, was too hard to video since the cable is short.

Just a longshot here but would you happen to have a sticking power button.

Not that I’ve noticed, I’ve tried tapping it a few times, holding it, etc.
It won’t connect in the app, but the escort cig adapter stays lit up, meaning the device does have some power.

Maybe this is a silly question, but have you tried it with the included socket adapter instead of Escort’s?
Yeah, that’s what I was using the first day when it worked correctly. Tried 2 cig adapters and the mirror tap, I’m guessing the unit is just defective.

Have you tried it since it faulted, using the V1 accessories? That's the first diagnostic to try.

Tried the adapter that came with it, as well as the mirror tap.

Just send it back for a replacement asap. Quite obvious there's a power issue.

Sorry to hear about your new V1 issues - seeing something like this does make me think of the die-hard V1 users saying V1 is known to be rock solid, no issue, not released until it is is perfect....goes to show that this is not a perfect world and things do have issues. Hopefully they get a replacement in your hands soon!

Seems like you have tried everything that we would, and sometimes new products fail unfortunately.

Maybe there is some type of hard re-set?
Maybe with BT software it be re-loaded by you?
Maybe V can get it working over the phone...

If not, and you send it in, please create a new thread, tracking all events getting a replacement, days it took, who paid shipping, when you got it back, and what the issue was etc. I think many would like know your experience. Good luck.

I’m thinking at this point I’m just going to return it and wait for Theia. The 360c can cover me until then.

If you can find an instance of anyone saying there never has been and never will be even a single problem or bum unit, please share.

What Deacon said. I've been using a V1 since 92 and have had exactly one failure. That unit didn't die but got out of tune on K-band. I got a ticket due to this. VR didn't even charge me for the repair in spite of the unit being years out of warranty. No electronic system is 100% reliable. Oh and both of my parents also have had V1 in use since the mid to late '90s. No failures with theirs. If the new V1 has a problem I'm confident VR will sort it out. And I don't think these will wind up being 2 or 3 years and die radar detectors.

I'll worry when we have multiple failures. Not that it'll help, mine's on the way.
