This LEO has been set up a lot lately. Typically he is down at the next overpass but it looks like he found a new area to play with the other night! MASP - K-band - 24.171- (Running Highway, TSR Off).

This really goes to show you how much terrain can impact the detection. The last 3 times I encountered this LEO they were just up the road a bit (same spot each time) and I averaged about 1.4 Miles vs this .43 Mile one. Just a slight curve and a little elevation can make all the difference.

are they required to keep their lights on there, or was he just being nice
Not to my knowledge, and the spot he usually sits his lights are typically off. Given this spot by the time you see him or his lights he already has you.

it was close, but hey, you got notified before he saw you, so i call it a save if you were speeding.

5 miles
1/2 mile, no ticket = a save
