Has any one set up a pre-order for an upgrade instead of a brand new unit? I'm tempted to do that, but I still kind of want to know the specifics of the changes in the new unit before I pull the trigger...

Very tempting to order one, as long as V1Driver is compatible. I can't imagine the V1 losing the communication interface.

I spoke to Valentine on Wednesday about sending my unit in now for upgrade so it will be in line to get updated. The lady told me to wait until the new detector was on the web site then fill out the form and send it in. I said I did not want to get left behind and have to wait 3+/- months to get a new detector after it is announced. Her reply was "we are covered up with new parts and there will be no shortage"

She told me once the new detector is on the web site put my serial number in and check for upgrades. It then would send me to the form to send in with the old detector.

MV wouldn't design anything that bad.
The first time I saw a pic of the R7 I was not paying attention and I thought it was a new V1. You can say what you want the R7 is impressive. Can't wait to see what an updated V1 can do and how well a stand alone V1 can filter BSM's. I will be very happy if it can filter K band as good as say the Pro M (without having to run a darn app). We will see soon I guess.

Sell It on E??y. Yesterday I sold my 3.8952 for $325+ $20 shipping and my 3.8945 for $300+$20 shipping.
Do the math:
Last V1 "hardware" update was $289.00 on a $399.00 retail V1. So you received $110.00 credit for your old V1.
We don't know what the new selling price is or the new upgrade cost, but many have speculated that the new V1 will not only have all new internals (via patents) but also include bluetooth and a new display. The old upgrade of $289 was internal hardware only. So it would "seem" that the new upgrade cost will be higher on a higher price new V1. Either way I believe you will leave $200+/- on the table by upgrading to a new V1 vs selling a 3.8952/3.8945 unit and buying a new V1.

Oh look, ANOTHER V1 updates thread where everyone is going to call Valentine then come here and post what they were told and it's going to be wrong.

Who would have thought another thread like this would pop up? Certainly not me.

the v2 already came out, its called the uniden R7. Looks just like it at least.
Good luck yall.
You mean the detector that is completely blind to a direct laser shot? Oh, you mean the detector that is so poorly engineered it varies from detector to detector what's detectable and what's not!

Sorry, Uniden will NEVER match the quality and engineering of a V1. Never.

Yes, I don't think there is any coincidence that the release date just happens to be tracking to the patents.

That is good news for everyone.

First, this will not be a revised edition of the old hardware, but a new edition incorporating the new patent technology. That's great news whether you plan on owning one or not.

The hardware detailed in the pantents would potentially put the V1 back in front from a performance perspective, and at under $500 will put significant pressure on the rest of the market with current or planned price points.

Competition is great. Especially when someone releases a supercar at affordable prices.

Wondering if this would be a good time to e**y my older V1 versus sending it in for an upgrade. Part of my dilemma is wondering if the older remote display will work with a new unit.

I'd be pretty sure the new model would support legacy CDs. VR is pretty good about that.

But......with built in blue tooth and the likelihood that more display options will be added to the V1Connect apt, it's going to be even more compelling to ditch that and use a smartphone as your CD.

All speculation of course.:D

They'll give you $110 for your old unit to upgrade it.

Get a dedicated phone and LE dongle, and you'll forget all about the CD. It's like going from mono sound to Dolby.

If you look back at the many other threads you can see me hinting toward a spring / early summer release...
