Driving I-27 from Lubbock to Amarillo this morning about 5am. Once I got out on the open road, I started getting random K band alerts. They would never ramp up over 4 bars. Mainly front antenna, but a few transitioned to rear. The main frequency was 24.155 and a few were 24.233. Traffic was extremely light and none of these were me overtaking a BSM offender. R7 was in highway mode and all filters OFF. I know R7 is sensitive. Could it have been opposite side of interstate vehicles? I've been running a 360c lately to check it out, so I just went back to R7. Kind of strange. Latest fw on R7.

Almost certainly coming from BSM's, SCC's, etc. from the other side traveling in the opposite direction. Yes, the R7 is THAT sensitive, especially in the flatlands.

Another way to cut down on K band falsing is to run in Advanced Mode, with K band attenuated down to 50% front, 80% rear, K Narrow, K block on (assuming you have upgraded to 129 firmware). Even at 50%, the R7 BLOWS AWAY almost ALL other detectors running at 100% K band.

@87GN - All filters off? You don't really need to do that. Are you running in Hwy mode? I'd leave K filter and TSF on for sure if you are running Hwy. If you're running Adv, I'd still leave them on and just adjust the K-band sensitivity as needed. Even at about 40% with its filters on, its as sensitive as your V1 with TMF2 on.

I see several county Sheriffs with verified K band. I'll start with K filter on.

Possible Traffic sensors?
Turn TSF to on?
K filter to on?
No traffic sensors. Maybe just that sensitive! I have several K band Sheriffs along my route. I was running NO filters! 100% K band. I'll turn on K filter on my way home.

I would not be afraid of turning on all of;
K filter
TSF
K Block
K Narrow (unless history shows LEOs in your area require K Wide)
And in high traffic/urban areas Advanced mode K 40-50%.
This makes a much quieter but still highly sensitive K setup.
Many tests here to prove it, including my own.
40% with all filters on matches the best possible moon shots I received on 3 other highly regarded on K band detectors.
50% crushed them.
Highway mode all filters on is in a class of it's own.
K block is very handy at cutting down falses and I've yet to see a post of anyone encountering a LEO that it would've blocked.
Have fun finding your sweet spot for the R7.

Does anyone know for sure which vehicles cause BSM falses to the mentioned by the OP frequencies? I am just curious, as I have never had 24.15x false from BSM (only doors). Don't know about the .233, I run K narrow most of the time..

@87GN , I agree what @Brainstorm69 states, I would turn K-band filter on and TSF on. I saw where you were going to start with the K-filter on, and I am sure that should help. If it doesn’t help, then try TSF on too.

I don’t have a R7, but I have a R3, and I have noticed an increase in K-band false alarms on the interstate (where I encounter very little K-band) when I am running K-filter on and TSF off. I have never run my R3 with K-filter off, so I don’t comment on how my R3 performs in that configuration.

I do see a lot of K-band in the city, state highways, and occasionally on the interstate, and my R3 performs very well against K-band with K-filter on and TSF on, and the BSM filtering and K-band false alarms for my R3 on the highway and interstate (and K-block on) is minimal.

Good input, @RoadDogg.
I always turn TSF ON when driving on Interstates or in heavy traffic.

I have R1 and R3. I only had to run K filter to quiet down super long bsm alerts. I guess R7 is really sensitive!!!

K=50% should be plenty, and turning on K filter and TSF should not be a problem except perhaps under the toughest conditions if the LEOs are using low powered K.

Oh, and I'd turn K Block on also as long as you are sure there are no real LEOs around using K-band on those frequencies.

Personally, I'd start with K Wide. But you might try asking folks from NJ to chime in with their settings/experiences in a thread specific to your questions.
