I just wanted to share this story, if a mod feels like this post doesn’t belong here feel free to move it. And before I get bashed for going that fast let me just explain the situation lol, First of all I was 18 which means I just got my driving license which also means I was an idiot and I used to get more than 1 speeding ticket a day, second of all the road I was speeding on was a 4-lane street which was as long as a highway and it was in a “wealthy” residential area, with an 80km/h (50mph) speed limit with no speed cameras (where I’m from cops don’t have radar or lidar guns, they put a speed camera or a mobile speed camera). I figured and seen the people who live in the area usually speed on the same street since there’s no speed cameras, anyway I wanted to see how fast could my car go which is the worst decision I’ve ever made lol. As soon I got on that road I floored it and I reached 175 km/h (108mph) halfway through the street, as soon as I reached 180kmh (111mph) I got temporarily blinded by a mobile speed camera’s flash hidden behind a street light, I then slowly braked until I reached 50mph and went home as fast as I could without going over the speed limit but that didn’t work out aswell because shortly after I got flashed by a fixed camera that used to be a decoy camera! It was one of the worst days I’ve ever had. A day later my dad received an excessive speeding ticket message urging him to visit the local PD to check on everything, he flipped out like every other parent would and I deserved it haha and everyone can guess what happened afterwards.

I forgot about all of this until a few hours ago when I checked my car plate’s info to see if I’ve received a ticket for expired registration. You guys can check the picture of my stupidity :).

Yikes, that is quite a collection of fines you have racked up.

Yeah lol I was an idiot and didn’t learn my lesson until I got that huge $816 ticket in 2018. I became a responsible driver (kind of) in 2019 and managed to receive 1 ticket for overtaking from the hard shoulder but the ticket got dismissed when I took it to court :). I forgot to add in my post a question, if you have been driving across a road that’s as long as a highway for a long time and realized that it has no speed cameras (or cops) would you have done the same?

Haha fair enough, I feel like 50mph speed limit on that road is way too low anyways, it should be changed to 60mph speed limit. I don’t drive on that road anymore, I get ptsd everytime I see the street’s name 😂

Hopefully countermeasures are reducing the number of times you are getting these days. I hate falsely low speed limits and there are a bunch of places around me that have them. Wide open flat empty multi lane roads with no driveways or intersections for miles speed limit 55. I usually cruise about 85 but it's quite comfortable to drive in the triple digits. Cops are always out there as it's an easy cash grab, I basically never see any accidents so it's not a safety thing for sure.

There is a road near here that’s 40MPH, down a hill and 5 lanes wide with very few people on it. If you get on it you can go well over limit. Some roads are just made for it but if you’re adulting you just have to hold up a bit. Stinks sometimes.

I don’t have any countermeasures unfortunately, I wanted to get ALP but they told me they don’t ship to my country so I just don’t try to go over the speed limit.

I totally agree, those types of road should have a higher speed limit instead of the usual 50mph / 55mph speed limit, it would be so easy for any driver to go slightly over the speed limit unconsciously if they saw an empty wide road

There’s probably atleast one cop doing radar right after the downhill looking for an easy target lol

A lot of places allow you to set up a local mailbox and forward what you receive to your real address for a small fee... So you could always get one of those in a country ALP does ship to and have it forwarded.... Of course that assumes that having something like that shipped into your country won't get stopped at the border... Not sure of the laws there.

I actually looked into it before, the last summer holiday I went to London and bought a pretty powerful laser which was illegal in my country, I had to send it to my country’s customs and pay for some type of registration just Incase the laser was used to harm others, When I went there I had to meet up with an employee that registers illegal items and I asked him he told me it’s impossible to get approved here, but he advised me to buy everything separate and get it shipped separately to not raise any suspicion.

Only a year??? That's like $87 a day!
Yeah lol a year is a very long time and I was 18, I just got my driving license at that time. I haven’t received any speeding tickets after 2018 which is good.

Are mommy and daddy paying for the $32,000 in speeding fines?
I’m not gonna answer that😂
