A while back I started trying to find a replacement serial cable that connects the Bridge Box and the Interface (CPU) Box of the Escort ZR5. It proved to be an almost impossible task. Luckily, I did get a hold of a cable. Realizing it was such a challenge to get a hold of, I decided to trace the pinouts at both ends and document them in case anyone ever wants to make their own replacement cable in the future. I took up @InsipidMonkey's personal challenge to me to learn how to use a multimeter. I can't say that I know how to use it completely, but at least I was able to learn enough make this pinout diagram.

The Diagram:

Things to note:

The CPU interface end of the cable is an 6P6C connector which fits an RJ12 socket. Yes, RJ12 and NOT an RJ11.

The round connector end of the cable that goes to the Bridge Box is a Mini-DIN 6 Pin connector; it is NOT a PS/2 connector. The indentations on the outer connector are round, unlike the rectangular connectors on a PS/2 mini-din connector. There are MANY variations of the Mini-DIN connector, so if you buy a cable to cut and reterminate, you'll need to be sure you get an exact match. The pin count, arrangement of the pins, shape of the indentations on the outside, and shape and orientation of the pushback inside need to all match 100%. I've included an example diagram for reference.

The specific Mini-DIN 6 Pin connector used, shown while looking directly at the male connector end, enlarged for detail.

I'd actually love to see if the Max Ci system uses the same cable and same pin arrangement as well. I don't have one to play with, but maybe if someone does and is willing to inspect the connectors and trace the connections, then we could possibly have some more information to potentially help other users with that system as well.
