the price and power cabling seem to be thoroughly speculated upon. and the performance promise appears to be there. for me the interest is now the display and switching setup. so i wonder what the device will present on the front /top/sides ? with usb c port and audio port as givens. i really prefer mechanical switches for electronics that can easily and positively connected with tactile and auditory features. i know it is not cheap to light the switches either

mute button
menu button
power on switch and indicator
volume switch
light dim switch

display arrow fwd and rear. sideways ?
display frequency
display number of emitters being seen
display signal strength ramp

i don't understand much about the display and perhaps most things can be configured on a blank screen by the user ?

I suspect the display will be programmable, and I'll want critical info only: Signal strength, # of signals detected and direction. Anything more is for those who will care about frequency or gun type and even those details can be audible.
I want my eyes on the road and the more info cluttering a display, which requires reading, the more distracting it is. Basically the K.I.S.S. principle.
Think we can safely predict Radenso will let users have as much or as little display info as they want.

I'm hoping they find a more elegant way of handling a color display in sunlight than Escort did. Recessing the OLED screen is ugly on the 360.

I have an add-on sun shade for my oem display because of sun wash out. Was able to get one from the bay. But for my add-on display i had to make a wooden mold and form a Kydex visor. Would need a 1/4” lip free of buttons on top to be able to attach visor with vhb tape. Unless visor is needed and added by Jon

@Jon at Radenso Any chance you could give a hint on the Friday video? I would love to know what you have in mind. I think this would be an area that we could help. I do like ""Decatur, 15 miles, eastbound. Would you like me to notify you when the threat is within range, Master?"

If that is not possible their could be a way to put hi importance message and flash it. " SLOW" for instant on radar. Then bars if the threat is not right there. I have always wanted a smart dark mode. Pop things up then disappear. I hate the blinking : on the pro when time is displayed. It is right in my line of sight, as my detector is mounted on my mirror with a hard mount.

When I drive I always have my phone where I can see it. I would like to have a phone app that shows what detail you have. If you can tell an individual gun, it would be nice to name it. "State Unit 1 up a head " on the phone. Then under that all the info you have on the gun. Signal strength and KA should be shown on the detector.

It would also be nice to have complete set up on the phone app.

I thought Jon said the only interface was a custom ocular implant? 🧠👁️‍🗨️

I can’t wait to start messing around with a custom gui. Not sure what’s in store for a display, I’m hoping they use all of the available real estate on the rear of the detector and fill the whole thing with a nice panel

So am I! I'd like to see it as an option at least.

I've said this before in older threads, but ideas get lost after a while;

I'm hoping the shell is something that will look like a factory option a car might have and can be made to blend in nicely. If it's hanging from below the mirror due to it's size, I'd like it to look like it came with the car. I wouldn't want labels on it, etc.
I would hope that the display didn't stick out like a sore thumb when dark in a way that says, "I'm a display, but I'm not showing you anything right now". Maybe it wouldn't even be that obvious that it is a display when dark. I tried to achieve that with my custom remote display.

Knowing now that it will come with a metal case, I wonder if that will limit the options a bit.
Lots of potential here!

I'm hoping for a dark mode with a (non phone dependent) real remote display
I've been giving this some thought and with the system being open and having wifi and bt, it would allow so many cool options. Could use the popular esp32 boards to make a remote display or remote control or remote audio. Would be neat to have a speaker module in the rear of the car to hear the directional alerts directionally like parking sensors on a car or whatever.

I think that with the architecture of this, whatever radenso doesn't give us, we can give ourselves easily.

And that USB C can handle display info also.
My favorite is still my old SmartRadar. RD on the pass side of the RVM, with a short thin cable to the small display/buttons on the driver side of the RVM. In my fov, ready to reach without looking.
A remote display would allow all options - simple, LED only, OLED bigger one with touch, etc.
With the wireless options, you could even add a solar powered HUD.
But, remember that displays get very expensive with touch screens, etc.

No. That thread is for apps on phones. Not the same thing as what SquirrelMaster is proposing.
I misunderstood - I assumed a remote display, remote control or remote audio would be managed by a separate app and not directly by Theia.

I took it as a hardware device. :) I'm all for hardware devices for redundancy.
Could use the popular esp32 boards to make a remote display or remote control or remote audio.

As much as I love cell phones (my living depends on them) I would desperately like to have an RD that doesn't require my phone to be useful. Integrating platforms is nice and all...until you run into roadblocks by the platform owners as to what they will or won't allow to function on the platform because they disapprove of it.

And hope they make it MUCH bigger too.
