Hello guys and girls of the rdf community... hey I was just observing and realized that if the whole U.S. population used waze together as a team, police speed traps would have hell to pay. Check it out I was watching a state police literally struggling to catch someone speeding...LOL!! 🤣🤣 they were shooting laser on 64, the way I made my observation I was looking in people's cars to see who was running waze and almost everyone was. Lol!! Then I knew the Va state police sit in this location quite regularly, so people know about this speed trap anyway. But I saw it was alot of police icons so a number of people reported the cops.. this wasn't the first time I made this observation, I sure wish everyone and the grandma used waze... the police of course can drive around and run radar. But waze puts them in a predicament that they cannot just chill and write tickets.. Now I know waze is Not 100% all the time, alot of times nobody has posted on waze as well... but if Americans across the whole U.S. ran waze and used it, just imagine. I just wanted to mention it to you guys it's not a big deal but I thought it would be cool, if everyone used waze in cooperation..

The best thing you can do is continue to recommend it to your friends, family, and coworkers. The more people using it, the more coverage we all get as a result.

I have an iPad mini installed just for this purpose so I can better see the map. I dont have CarPlay. That said, I dont like it for anything other than the reports so if I really want to get somewhere I use split screen with another map app like Apple Maps. I’m not sure I want Google to combine Waze and their map but having a better map for navigation in addition to info would be nice. I do know Google owns both but they act like two different companies on some things.

Plenty of Waze users around where I live. When you load up the app, it will quickly state how many wazers are around you.

Typically, the min. I see is about 25,000 with a max. of close to 70,000 but, once out of any city/metro area I find it not to be very reliable and have gone past many unreported police locations so, be careful in the middle of nowhere and encourage as many people to use it as possible.

Wow, that’s a lot of users! Where are you located. I live just 20 miles outside of a city and near a couple major highways. The most I’ve seen is around 7 or 8 thousand as I can remember. With the lowest being only around 600. I frequently use it with the average being 2500.

I wish more people in Albuquerque used it. Yesterday morning during rush hour there was only ~300 wazers. Kinda sad for a city with the population of half a million.

Yes when the app first starts, it will tell you how many wazers are around you.

I used it from Indiana to California in a two day Sprint and I was going between 75-95 mph the entire way with Waze, an r7, and jbv1, it seems the most of the alerts were about 15-22 minutes old, I usually figure they are within a 2 mile radius at least of the last report as humans are lazy and creatures of habit.

Whenever I start VVaze on my Android phone, I typically see a statement of 30,000 users in my area.

FWIW, it sounds like Highway Radar updates more often than VVaze.

I live in a city of over 80K people and I have never seen any Waze alert but mine here.
When I mark a LEO the notice states "you helped 0 to 6 wazers".
Hit Vancouver BC and I actually have to dial back the range on highway radar to give a reasonable amount of alerts.
Maybe the future mobile speed cameras will get more wazers on board.
But quite an anti-cell phone movement here for auto use.

I see very little stationary enforcement in my area. It’s part of the reason radar is so much more popular since patrol units can actually patrol while running it instead of staying stationary and useless. Few patrol units have any difficulty whatsoever making their quotas. With artificially low speed limits being the norm, it’s not hard to find people who are exceeding them, intentionally/knowingly or not. And even 100% perfect Waze (or Google Maps now) usage by 100% of all drivers would be ineffective against rolling threats. Reports are helpful for everyone’s safety. But it’s not much of a countermeasure for me.

We don't have much activity here either, kind of sucks. I used the Honda Hack on my CRV and was able to install Wave directly to the head unit. If I had a personal cell phone I'd root it and use tasker to start the mobile hot spot when the phone connects to the car, that'd make it like wireless android auto.

I have a feeling some LEO browse Waze - I often see mobile speed camera spots deleted and re-instated several times over a few days - I’m sure our friendly local cops get onboard and do a spot of deleting!

Waze is your lifeline on certain "parkways" in E NY. It's IO trap after IO trap. Sometimes up to 4 worthless "police state enFORCErs" in one area. The funny thing is hardly anyone is really speeding (from what I can see). But they seem to have "customers" all the time, so there are still some non-Waze suckers out there. Luckily, there are enough Waze "reporters" on these roads to post all of the encounters I have seen. Sometimes the target(s) move, but you know the "vultures" are in an area. I do my part to update and acknowledge, often "patrolling" for hours to just report. And I still have my "fun". ;)

These are NOT "public servants"! They are "highway robbing TAX collectors on the TAX PAYROLL"! Get rid of them. They do NO GOOD.

Just loaded my wAZE. Only showing 758 wAZERS around me. Most I've seen in my area 1,200. Definitely not many participants in my area unfortunately. What reports I do see are accurate, and that's really what matters. You can show 30,000 wAZERS around you but if they aren't reporting it's useless.
