I got my TMG Gen1 when our members were able to preorder it. Mines the one without the serial number. I always make sure the CPU has the updated firmware. I also have 2 sensors in the front of my wife's Chevrolet Cruze.
I got this "only" for short trips from Illinois to Ohio and back and travel 3 to 5 times a year. The rest of the time the TMG is not used.
I'm undecided if I should upgrade to the Newest CPU with VPR system and spend extra money. I know and understand that new updated systems may or will come with a cost.
I do trust the TMG that I have now but with the G2 and the VPR unit, do you think in my situation and not using my TMG as much, is it worth it to upgrade my system and spend extra money?
Do you think my G1 can protect me enough? I sorta feel like it can but not good enough without the VPR unit.
This TMG unit is only used for that small amount of travel that I mentioned above.
I run a complete ALP set up in my other car that is used for long distance driving so, I'm well protected and feel very confident with my ALP and my Uniden R3 in front and R1 in the back. I'm going to invest in the newest Radenso coming out and willing to spend a good chunk of money for that and will be well worth the investment.
So, do you think I should update my TMG for the newest one or stick what I got and save that money for the new Radenso coming out?
Thanks

If you run in OH, you should at least consider the VPR upgrade package and keep your Gen1 heads. Functionally, there is no difference between the Gen1 and Gen2 heads.

(I'm in the same boat; I run across OH twice a year, but need at least some protection against VPR.)

Unless you see DE everyday, TMG will cover you!

Thanks. I already ordered my new CPU and sensor with VPR. It should be arriving tomorrow the 3rd.
I'm running an R1/Redline-O ghetto arrow setup in my Boss 302. No one would believe how killer this setup is until they try it! I have a R1/R1 setup in Jane's car and it works just as good! I'm running TMG G2 duals in the front and we're in the process of installing 2 more heads in the back of the Boss. I'm going to run this for awhile and test it and then swap out the CPU and add the VPR heads both front and rear.

Ohio has DE as pointed out... I would upgrade... but that’s just me. I see laser maybe once every two-three years...

Awesome! I believe in getto set ups!
Whatever works and protects us...
It's all good!

You don't have an ALP? I thought you did.

This whole time, I thought you had an ALP set up.
Well, the TMG is very good also but I rather have an ALP for both cars.
I got the TMG when it 1st marketed so I can test it and it was cheaper then an ALP set up. My other car I drive long distance and I wanted/needed that ALP set up. My wife's car we don't use much to travel far and wanted a cheaper set up and the TMG worked well. I take the CPU out whenever we don't travel with her car. That's the nice thing about the TMG.

Since it’s mainly Indiana then I’d pass. But they do use the DE on the boarder over there sometimes.

Kenny, Under the Uniden area, R3 vs R7 I talk/explain about using my getto set up.

And, I'm selling my TMG CPU on the forum because I'm getting my new CPU in a few more hours.

My testing partner @VariableWave has both TMG and ALP systems, so I have access to both setups. I love them both, and we've had great results out of both setups. TMG jams the hell out of everything we throw at it as long as it covers the gun. They need to get busy and learn more guns!

My upgrade is supposedly "out for delivery" today too! Probably won't have time to install until the weekend. (Sigh)

All of you getting your systems and I'm just sitting here waiting to hear that @Jag42 has something for me in which we've discussed over pm's. I'm not in a rush, so I know he'll hook me up when he can.

Once @Jag42 hooks me up, I'll be getting with @VariableWave and @Kennyc56 for some testing of these VPR Heads.

@Jag42 is the blue tape on the ends of the cable indicating that the cable is different in some way? Or is it just for the installer's benefit to ensure you don't mix-up the ends and they get plugged into the right places?

Installers benefit so you dont have to guess.
