Got a ticket by laser this morning in Hays county Texas. 360C didn’t even go off. I know it’s just a warning you’re about to get a ticket, but this doesn’t give me much confidence, so I’m going to convince the wife we need new detectors (she has one too). Huge shout out to @EscortRadar for making a detector that falses to laser all the tine, but when you’re actually hit with it it’s silent.

Time to lawyer up.

Honestly if you are seeing laser it's not a new detector you need it's a jammer you need... Once you have a laser jammer you can disable laser detection on the max360 and no more falsing.

you’re 100% correct, but I don’t have much confidence in this thing anyway. I have ZX5 on our other car though so I’m not sure what I want to do. I regret going all in on Escort. Wish I knew about this place before I bought.

Well the escort shifter systems can be ok depending on where you drive and what guns you face , and may well have saved you if you had them on this car. Upgrading to ALP is always an option, you can still fun your current RDs and have the ALP as a stand alone system or you can upgrade it all if you wanted to, nice thing is the escort stuff holds value pretty well so you could eBay/Facebook marketplace/Craigslist it and get back a decent amount if you wanted too. Also once you reach 50 posts here there is a for sale marketplace that opens up to you as well.

You cant blame Escort here, it's an electronic device that can and will have issues. Like a cellphone needing to be put in airplane mode to reset a connection. It's 2020, i shouldn't have to do it, but we all do still. We expect things to just work, especially considering the price, but unfortunately that's not the case. I myself have owned a 360c for almost a month now and have had zero false alerts to laser. Mind you mine is installed next to my rear-view mirror. so that could be a reason why it hasn't falsed. But I have been alerted to scatter from lidar traps with it installed there.

People need to educate themselves on what radar detectors can do. I get radar detectors returned constantly for 2 reasons...

1. I passed several police vehicles and had no notice - This thing is broken
2. I got hit with laser and my detector did not go off - This thing is broken

Laser is a very narrow beam and at 500' the width of the beam can be as narrow as 10" or as wide as 18". If they are shooting at your headlights your detector on your dash or windshield has very little chance of even seeing that light. Some detectors might be more sensitive than others but if the beam does not reach the detector there is nothing for it to detect. If laser is used in your area the only thing that can save you would be a laser jammer such as the AL Priority System.

I didn't know about the for sale section. Looking forward to getting some deals from other members!

I hear it from my friends often, it must be defective. People need to stop making assumptions that every police car they see have radar installed in it too. Drives me crazy, to the point of speeding!

In addition to the small beam, am I right that some laser guns are not detectable by a windshield unit? Seems I read that but I can't remember for certain.

I understand 100% of all of that. I’m fully aware a alert is merely a “you’re about to get a ticket” warning. I also understand radar detectors are radar detectors and not police detectors. However, this post was a mixture of aggravation and being annoyed with constant laser falses on a detector that may or may not alert to anything because it may be sleeping.

I’m not in anyway what so ever saying the escort could have saved me today, I KNOW IT CAN’T, but it’s infuriating that it falses so often, and then when it COULD have actually been a legit hit it didn’t pick anything up.

The short answer is that they are detectable but some detectors filter out their signals as false alerts. This is a fault in the filtering.

The 360c is a good radar detector, as long as you are getting radar detection i would keep it and turn off laser. Laser/lidar is becoming more prevalent, best to get a good jammer system like ALP.

There are multiple things going on and each situation is different. More importantly almost each Radar Detector is different. Detectors use different diodes for receivers, have different firmware, and some have collector or focusing parts installed.

Next comes the actual encounter as to whether one gets an alert. One is more likely to get an alert from a far encounter (with a detector that actually picks up Lidar decently for example a V1) because the Lidar Beam will be at its largest. A close encounter such as being right on top of the LEO with a well aimed LP or bumper shot then even the V1 is not going to go off because no Lidar light will be high enough to reach a high windshield or headliner mounted RD due to the tight low Lidar beam.

So as one can see, it is hit or miss whether it is even going to go off, then one moves into that one in a million time it goes off soon enough to save one IE Lidar saves from RDs can happen but they are the exception and not the rule!

So if one has to deal with Lidar on a regular basis, best to purchase TMG or ALP depending on location and where one travels.

That's Murphy's law hard at work! During all of our tests we run we always hit our detectors with laser just for the hell of it after we get done testing them against all kinds of radar. You guessed it, all of my R1's and Redline's just sit there blind as a damn bat, even when shooting straight at them. So, I get my TMG duals set up on the front of my Boss 302 and go on our first road trip with them. I get my first laser save out in the real world in Va. of all places, and guess who decides to join the party and be a hero? Yep, my R1 also gets the laser hit and drowns out my TMG CPU that's hidden in the console! Funny how that works ain't it? Since then of course I've turned laser off on my R1, but it's still ironic how things happen. My Whistler's and my V1 are a different story, they eat laser alive!

Where do you hide yours? I hate driving through VA, but sometimes I have to and I want to know if there is a better place to hide mine. I have mine behind the dots so maybe I am okay and it is hardwired.
