@Staff Members
In the past, we had an active promotion thread where the general public and membership would be notified of promotions in RDF. Since that is no longer active, most miss others being promoted to advanced, unless the member themselves post a "Thanks for my promotion" thread.

Not looking to add any work for someone, but can we have an Advanced Promotion list/thread here so other advanced members can welcome the new inductees? Who ever does the promotion (or some advanced automated bot ;) ) could update the thread

If that works, maybe do the same at the intermediate level....
Thanks!

Lol I second this. @Transporter messaged me the day I advanced saying he didn't see my "I'm in advanced" thread (thanks for letting me know Transporter).

It would be helpful in other situations where I can talk to users in person or Discord and not have to guess what level they're at or look up user names.

Also great team/community building :drinking:

Isn’t advancement to Advanced a manual process? One that happens relatively infrequently? It seems like throwing a “Congratulations to @Username for making it to Advanced!” reply to a thread would be fairly minimal and not necessarily require automation.

Its a good idea to know level changes especially since apps like tapatalk don’t give you this info. This has led me at times, to unknowingly, enter threads made by trolls and secret spin agents. Once i check the web view and see who they are (which i do more often now) it gives me a better idea if my response is needed or being baited.

Can I throw some food for thought out there? Maybe keep the congrats thread or forum restricted to Advanced? It’s all positive when you welcome others to a level you already have.

As an Intermediate on the slow road to promotion (maybe? I hope?), I’d have varied internal reactions to seeing these announcements, especially if it’s someone who advanced very quickly.

I don’t like to admit my own faults like this to myself, but I’m sure I’d feel some envy in those situations.

Not to rub it in, but I did post this thread in the Advanced section as I felt it belonged there and not in General.
BTW, You will get there. Patience....

Yea, it was in Advanced. I guess the mods thought it was appropriate to place here.

What about instead of an automated system, users who get advanced & intermediate, one of the staff create a post welcoming them to that section? I have made one for INT users from DEC/JAN. I will do one monthly- doing it manually for INT and ADV is not much of a task. I think most ADV users make a post themselves, but will keep an eye on them as well.

As stated above, just be active and helpful. You'll have some people like @OBeerWANKenobi and @Transporter who fly all the way to the top quickly, some people like myself who are on and off sometimes for a month or two before things start kicking off again. You joined slightly after me and just a cursory glance at your previous posts, you've been active in a similar fashion so who knows? Maybe you're next?

One thing's for sure. The more you try to achieve it, the harder it becomes to get there lol. At least that's how it feels. Your time will come when you're deemed ready (and maybe after some interrogation/interviewing too).

Good luck to all those who feel stuck in Intermediate! I promise, the more you think about it, the more frustrated you'll become. Go with the flow and you'll make it to shore!

Can I be promoted with the most advanced advancement ever? It would really boost my morale

The levels aren't really rankings and shouldn't be seen as such. It's more about how trusted a person is on the forum since we are dealing with information that could potentially undermine our efforts to beat speeding tickets. The reason it's hard to go up the ladder is to make it as excruciating as possible for someone like Ihara or Scott Patterson or Dragoneye as a company to fake their way to the top. And once you get to Advanced, you aren't guaranteed to stay there. If @KASHER1979 and SD believe you aren't trustworthy or you may be a risk to the community, you don't get to stay in Advanced. If someone's been away for quite a while, they also could get bumped down to make sure no one else can try accessing that account to gain info (obviously, they can be advanced again once they're back and verified to be the same person with no nefarious intent). If you ask any advanced user about the advanced sections, they'll say nothing much really happens there. Same with intermediate and beginner. Sure, there's information you can learn about there but once you've read about everything you want to know, it's just like Intermediate. You'll get a thread or two here and there with some discussion and the rest of the action happens in public or general forums.

I take that as a no . Oh well it was worth a try.

I've just accepted my eternal fate in intermediate. It's cozier in here anyways!
