Having been dailying my Max 360 for the last couple of weeks, I'm kind of surprised at its chattiness in Hwy mode. In the past, I remembered it being quieter. The last couple of days I have turned on Auto mode, which does quiet it down more. I'm just curious if people are finding the need to run in Auto mode vs. Hwy, or if maybe I'm just seeing more of the cars that seem to give it problems. Hondas (Accords and Odysseys), Mazda CX-5s, the usual GM suspects, Alfa Romeos (Giulias - I don't see many of these, but I did see one a couple of days ago that made the 360 howl).

I always run my Max360c in Highway mode if it is just me in the car whether I am in the city or on the highway or interstate. If my wife and/or children are with me, I may switch it to Auto or lower the volume and be ready to hit the mute button when I am in the city/urban environment since I don’t use GPS lockouts.

I only had a 360 for a short time and used Auto. It was chattier then I expected it to be based on what I read from others, even in Auto.

I would think if you stopped using any detector for a while, or just stopped using one all together for a few months or more, it would be chattier when put back up. BSM and forward collusion avoidance systems are becoming standard features on many (most?) cars. We are simply flooded with K noise.

around town I was always AutoNoX, highway trips I'd go highway mode
Honestly since I've gotten the R7 and the Redline EX my Max360 has basically been parked, I need to dust it off and try it again or sell it I guess

I’ve had your same experience with the same thoughts. I’m running Auto mode more. It could be from different vehicles or less filtering. I’ve even started running Cruise Alert in town.

The newest update that introduced MRCD has made my wife's 360c WAY more chatty than before. Not good at all.

I still have silent lockups and laser falsing. It was never fixed as they claim.

I cant wait for Theia!

AutoNoX but does seem to false alert from Ford/Mazda more since the MRCD add-on.

I have turned off MRCD due to unacceptable performance as it is always barking and there is definitely no tree.

Latest firmware in highway and rarely a false. In fact a few days ago took a 2 hour trip through MA and RI and not a single BSM. X and Ka alerts though So it was not sleeping.

Fairly low traffic areas?

I run in highway mode with my 85xx Max 360, version 1.5. Sometimes when I am in one of the frequent Washington DC metro area traffic jams, I will turn it down to auto. If I remember, that is.

My driving environment involves lots of hills, curves, and year round foliage off highway, while on highway is typically so congested you can't even speed.

So ironically I found I need my Max360 in Highway mode around town for maximum range in the difficult terrien, while on the highway I need to dial K band back with Auto mode and Cruise Alert to help quiet down all the surrounding BSM systems.

This detector on older firmware is quiet when it's on highway.

Soon as you update it. It's very chatty and highway is annoying. Auto quiets it down to a somewhat acceptable false rate, but nothing like the old firmware was capable of.

That's what it sometimes seems like to me, and why I asked the question. I used to drive with it in Hwy mode all the time when I used it (which admittedly wasn't very much), but it seems chattier now in Hwy mode. But I was curious as to whether others felt the same or not, especialy those who have used much more than I have.

Not just you. My detector on 1.4 I ran foreverrrrr on highway only. It was quiet driving around the city. On the new firmware the first drive after the update I had to switch to Auto before I let the detector drive me crazy.

It feels like the detector is more sensitive and I'm not sure if that's good or bad. More often I get a random KA alert then it goes away. This never happened on FW 1.4. I'm still happy with it on Auto mode, but the newer firmwares changed something. No lock ups or sleeping though.

I run Auto noX now and it picks up everything in a good range so I'm still happy. Just them small random KA burst that goes away quick. I know Auto mode is not suppose to effect KA, but it does quiet it down for some reason

It was mid-day running 195 & 95. Not heavy traffic but not light either. I’m guessing not a lot of newer vehicles on the road during the trip.

Yep, I see it the same. Used to be very quiet, but now it's barking a lot. And when it does, it's a fairly strong burst, and not ramping up at all. It seems my R7 is better at telling the difference between false BSM and real K Band threats.

Can't Escort get their act together?

Running mine in Highway, with TSR off. Haven't had a single false from any honda or caddi, much nicer than the EX in terms of falses.
