Hi, all. The PSL is 60, and some guy was doing between 45 and 50 up ahead, but no one behind had the b***s to pass. Videos are kind of long, but just wanted to show that there was light oncoming traffic and plenty of opportunities to pass. Also, I did not include the audio, because I used quite the foul language all along...

This is because 90% of the drivers on any highway are lemmings. They think it's better to ride someones ass for 50 miles rather than just go around. In my opinion the line of cars behind the idiot causing the problem are worse than the lead guy. The responsibility lies on the first 2 or 3 cars behind the turtle. If they don't go around now the guy whos 5th in line and actually knows how to drive can't pass because he has to pass a train and there's never enough of a gap.

That's why I always buy higher than average powered cars. When it's time to pull the trigger its a quick maneuver. One of the number one causes of vehicle crashes are cars driving side by side and bumper to bumper. One mistake by one and the whole bunch gets taken out.

Thanks for the video - I encounter this regularly and it's infuriating, especially on our rural roads up here where there are far fewer straightaways/passing opportunities. Lucky there was no LEO with I/O up ahead when you were doing the final maneuver - as we were discussing yesterday in a different thread, it's easy to get to 20-25 over PSL just trying to pass a slow driver and get back on the right side of the road.

Absolutely agree with your statement here. Too many times I get stuck behind several vehicles, cause I cannot pass them all at once, and opportunities are much fewer. Worst of all is when they are back to back, not keeping a safe distance, but yet not having the courage to hop one at a time.

You are welcome!
Lucky indeed. Luckier couple of days ago, when I passed 2 cars on the very same spot, and was doing 73 or 74 for few seconds. There was a LEO coming down the hill in the far distance. I guess he was preoccupied or something, cause I would have been a toast.

This seems to be an increasing problem, even on 2-3 lane highways and freeways. From a motorcyclist's perspective, I think it often comes down to one or two slow drivers. They end up next to each other or next to a truck and just won't speed up or pass. On a bike in California where lane splitting is allowed, I'll come across these lumps of slow moving cars, only to pick my way carefully to the front and find a couple of slow pokes, moving well under the limit for no apparent reason with a mile or more of empty road ahead. Often after clearing one bolus of traffic, I just end up catching another one and have to do the same thing all over again. Infuriating is right.

Yeah. Many times I see the slow leading vehicle to be a nice one with a clear road ahead. So it's not traffic, and it's not technical reason to be moving slow. It's like either a bad driver, or someone that thinks sight-seeing is done while driving...

Nice maneuvering and thanks for sharing! Good timing on that final pass. You should have thrown your lit cigarette on his hay bundle... That would have got him going!

P.S. I'm not implying the OP is a smoker for all you PC people.

It was good they were spread out like that. Here they try sitting bumper to bumper and you almost have to take them all in one go. They hate to let you in otherwise.

I think some people are to scared to pass since they have to go over the speed limit and are to worried LEO will be hiding up the road.

True. And at the same time hateful, cause there are times when they speed up as you are passing. That makes me mad.

Yeh, phone use or in no hurry.

When they talk its on the gas, when listening its off the gas.

They use the car ahead and sometimes in the next lane for a peripheral anchor. Try this, sitting at a light and seeing the driver behind you looking down, let off your brake light, he/she will look up. Do it a few times and some get pissed off.

Funny. I have seen such behavior several times at traffic lights.

I love when they do it when we're driving the Boss 302! Like I've said in other posts, it's all about timing! I just assume everyone I pass is going to be a b&%$# so I just blow by them before they know what hit them! If they do decide to be stupid, then I'll rely on my TMG's, my R1 and my Redline-O in the back to protect us while I "clean my plugs off" real quick! 500 hp gets around even the biggest @ssholes you will find in a hurry!

That's right, @Kennyc56. Smoke those haters!
My car is nothing special, but I floor it when I need to, and it still does pretty good.

We have 3 other Mustangs with gutless V6's that we drive to work in, we do the same thing with them! You just have to get a much bigger head start and hit them with a much smaller hammer Ha Ha!

Ah yes, in the Atlanta area a lane change turn signal is perceived as a challenge to close the gap before you can make the move. So most of the time the signal lever is operated while simultaneously pulling the wheel.

And the left lane hog that finally yields but speeds up to match you is nice too. I like these. If bored I ease up ahead and put my signal on and join them. Heh! I got to start saving my rear dash cam vids of those looks.

People are afraid to pass nowadays - I actually like 2 lane roads most of the time if there are enough breaks in the traffic to actually pass safely. Hwy 211 to the beach is one of the best.
