In the spirit of "How old are you" thread I thought it would be fun to share what was your first car.

Mine was a 1969 Dodge Charger with a 440 Magnum.
I bought it in 1976 and it was in tough shape when I got it, I think I paid something like $400 for it.

It looked exactly like this (not mine), when all the fenders and wheels were on it ;)

1988 BMW 325is. I’ll never regret selling a car as much as I regret that one.

Here’s one more. 200lbs of Salt/Sand in the trunk and a set of Blizzaks and it could go anywhere.

Just like this one except the non LEO wheels. Was my dad's car, had it from 16 - 20, gave it to the girlfriend, married her, got it back. Gave it to wife's younger brother when he started college a few years later, and it finally died 2013 at 21 years old. Father in law tried to force it up an icy hill and after several moments of spinning the wheels and getting too hot it blew the engine and burst into flames.

I have yet to find a car with seat as comfortable as that car. And I still have the taurus emblem saved from the burnt remnants :)

Not mine exactly but this was very close. it got me from school and back reliably. It was by far the worst in terms of quality of components ive ever seen in a vehicle. plastic interior piece easily broken, paint bubbling, i shut the door and it would snap wires controlling the windows and central locks.

But it was mine and i truly loved driving it because it was one huge step towards becoming an adult.

The realization that i could turn the radio up as loud as i wanted was a thrill the first time i did it.

HA! My best friend had the exact same year, but in the aqua blue! I remember riding around in that thing, and no plastic garbage can was safe! I don't remember how many of those things we took out, and it would always be someone we knew in the neighborhood so we would laugh knowing who would have to be the one to clean it up. Man those were the days...

My first ride (not mine) was a 1986 Volkswagen Scirocco that I bought for $600 from the neighbor from across the street. Ended up ricing that thing out so much it wasn't even funny. I had a cherry bomb on that thing, and I thought I was Mario Andretti:

Lost my you know what in that thing as well!

Then one night coming home a rain storm came through, and a flash flood occurred in Manatee County. Which has terrible storm drains on their roadways. As I approached a flooded intersection I thought it could make it as other vehicles were going through it. Trucks albeit.

Anyway these cars use air off of the air intake to pressurize the fuel lines. Well you can imagine what happened next as I went through about two feet of water, and ended up cracking the block.

My brother witnessed the whole thing, and he had a ball towing me home in his F150. Oh the things you learn over time...

you cant hide money lol

But honestly im building a 944 turbo as we speak. Love the way they handle.
Nice! Yeah, the handling was incredible. It didn't seem too underpowered at the time, but now I know better. I loved the driving position as well - it feels like you're sitting on the ground with your legs out in front of you. Plenty of legroom too (the guy I bought it off of was 6'10").

Looking forward to some pictures of the 944 when you're done!

Feel the power and speed from this picture of a 1975 Pinto even in red just like my Pinto.
You would think that this powerless, gutless, explody car couldn't get anyone into any trouble. Well except for that explody thing. Since they had a tendency to blow up, you could buy them really cheap. As a 16 year old in 1981, I of course wasn't really paying attention to the news and how Ford recalled 1.5 million of them but I did notice the cheap price and the really cool stereo. What a steaming pile of crap car. Even though I only had it 9 months and it spent 4 months in the shop, I still got tickets in it with the first ticket happening just 3 days after I got my license. It remains the only car that I didn't get to at least 100 MPH and it wasn't for lack of trying. Growing up in the land of flat roads with no trees and no corners [Wichita KS], even after a 2+ mile stretch, I could only get it to around 78 MPH. 0-60 in a day or so.

But still, even with this gutless car, a speed demon was born.

When I was a kid, well before my license I dreamed of getting a Pinto LOL. Probably had a few Matchbox cars of a Pinto. My friends that knew way more about cars than I did at the time would laugh their heads off.
