That's not going to have Ka segmentation. And I thought I heard somewhere that Escort isn't doing conversions of Drivers to Magnums anymore.

I'd look into it before buying. If Beltronics/Escort isn't doing the conversion anymore, I wouldn't necessarily do it. As I recall, it used to be $100 for the conversion. And if they won't convert it, they certainly won't load the Ka segmentation FW onto it.

Try calling Escort today to find out if they still do it and how much it costs to convert and add Ka segmentation fw..

Without band segmentation, the performance isn't that great. But don't take my word on whether they will do the conversion or not. I'm just going off memory, and maybe what I read wasn't true.

I actually called a escort and asked and they said since the components that is too old for it then won't do it anymore. So you were right. Oh well I guess I'll tell the lady that I changed my mind thanks for the info

If you live in an area where Ka is your main threat, even an unsegmented/non-RDR STi-Driver makes a great backup RD with decent performance for $50.
If you live in an area where K band is a legitimate concern then I would recommend looking elsewhere.

I tested one of my Drivers before getting it updated to a Magnum, but only a couple of times on K-band. So it isn't much to go on. It was very early in my testing career. Results are here:

Yeah, I didn't have a Ka gun yet when I first started doing tests, so K-band was all I could test against.

K band depending on where you live either works great, or is a pos in high populated city highways. Distance is still great on it , It has saved me countless times to watch my speed and slow down, plenty of time to not get dinged by K band radar. I have a magnum but didnt come with K or Ka band segmentation which I'm irritated about. Ka functionality is perfectly fine. Depending on where you put this detector, it can save you from laser. Positioned correctly and tested (if you got the balls in certain areas where its illegal) against driving by cops doing radar or laser testing, you will find the sweet spot which is not high up just under the rear view mirror. Yea i used to run it like that years ago before all these cars came with radar sensing equipement and collision sensors. bsm bullshit, but putting it a little lower WILL lower the amount of falses you get and WILL help against laser depending on the type of car you drive . BTW i had gotten saved by LIDAR 4 times within 5 years. i call that a win. 3 times on the 407 toll highway and once in a speed trap.
