Took a 20 mile drive yesterday. No MRCD falses at all.

I’m getting live radar alerts all over the place even though I’m not connected to my phone with either Wifi or Bluetooth.

Any ideas of why this might be a “Thing?”

The only thing in the detector or settings allowed are RLC’s.
That is a Camera alert from the database, not a 'live radar alert'. Given the 'M' under the camera symbol that looks to be a MRCX Speed Cam alert from the on-board database you have enabled.

Let me know if you have any laser falses. The last FW update has given me daily laser falses (multiple on many drives). ER was going to address this in the FW but no confirmation yet that they did.
None so far, but usually when I make a statement like this, it happens soon after. lol

BTW, just to be clear, I am not running EL.

I understand and have felt that pain. Well I went ahead and updated to 1.9 - laser falses were more than i could take. I will update any findings.

I updated as well....my bogey tones seemed to have returned as well! They would only alert if I seemed to pick up a signal then a fair amount of time would pass and other signal was acquired. They seem to be working as they did a number of firmware versions ago where when you pull into a shopping center you get the tones.

There is one bike trail crossing that has been consistent with the 360 where it starts and ends with the alerts, last night it was silent as I approached and only got a quick chirp from the rear after I passed. When by the other direction and a short alert then nothing. Wonder if they did anything with the filtering? I have MRCD Off. So far my other false alerts seem to happening in the same spot though.

The only thing on is RLC and RLC+speed cameras. (Speed on Green Cameras).

There’s no RLC in that direction at that distance.

The “M” stands for meters. If it’s MRCD, the “M” is white and it’s in the upper left hand corner like this picture. I’ve included.

I have a ton of false signal things like speed signs, door openers, and maintenance signs.

I find the reaction to these a crap shoot. If you go by them multiple times, you would think how it alerts would be constant, but it’s not.

It’ll show Locked out 24.151 going one way, then 20 mins later going the other way.... totally oblivious as if it doesn’t exist.

The FW is buggy and needs some work. It’s untrustworthy. Doesn’t matter if your linked to “Live” or not. It’s not filtering either.

If it can’t be consistent, you can’t depend on it. I don’t even have TSF activated

There is an issue with your detector. It should be serviced.

If you're able to pick them up off the defender database, great, then don't enable it and take the additional falses.
Enabling MRCD or CT adds false alerts. Using the database alone adds no falses.

Were you able to reduce laser falses with this update? Thanks
Laser detection was not changed with this update. We are looking into the reports of laser falsing.

I’m going to wait to see if I can get a 2nd one to try it against.

I really think it’s FW.

If your willing, check one out in your lab, make sure it’s in perfect working order, and send it to me so I can eliminate the FW aspect of it.

I don’t want to keep it, but would like to compare it before it gets sent in. It’s a $1000.00 detector.

Your companies track record of timely and competent repairs with me is lacking. Being a international customer, it costs me $21.00 every time I send it to you.

The Redline EX is my example. December 2018 check FR message repair turned into the detector being sent in 3 or 4 times because of issues that I found as soon as it arrived bench testing. One lost detector mailed to the wrong address that I had to look for myself, and the whole issue wasn’t resolved till April or May 2019?

I’ll have to find the link to that subject. It’s well documented here.

So, either you can send me a verified detector to test if it’s a FW or HW issue, or I’ll get a 2nd one from someone else before I go through another $80.00/$90.00 out of my own pocket.

Installed 1.9 and noticed that KA-POP is gone as a band preference and replaced with MRCD. I don't know of anyone using POP, but if you are you may want to stay at the previous FW. I drove 70 miles today on 1.9 with MRCD off - nothing out of the ordinary noticed.

I had another 5 or 6 MRCD falses tonight on my 12 mile drive home during rush hour. I could only figure out one car that seemed to cause a false. Think it was a newer Ford Explorer.

Still no laser falses, but it was cloudy today.

Let @Heywood put on FW that has logging enabled before he sends it in? We have reports on RDF of users who have had FW installed that had deeper diagnostic logging enabled.

I noticed it does have the error logger on it. Can I access it?

Like I said, if it's hardware, it would be constant more often than not. If it's FW, it's going to be erratic and inconsistent.

I'm not going through this again until I get a 2nd detector to compare it to before it goes back.

I mis-spoke. I confirmed with our software team that laser falsing was addressed in this latest firmware which adds Multaradar.

Update your detector and let us know if you notice a difference.

I think we're onto something here. My Cobra DualPro 360 goes joyfully M-ballistic in traffic several times per day, and while I'm looking for Mazdas and not finding them, it rings a bell that there are recent Ford Explorers every time (I'm even "...Eh, wait, were Fords falsing at all ??? ..." every time it happens.

Well, I guess I'm going to try this update. It;s sleeping so often now that I have nothing to lose. How much worse could it be?

Phil
How do you know it's gone to "sleep"? Does the screen go blank?

For the sleeping, videos show even the Cylon like moving bars on main display works. For lock ups, some odd sort of non functional display is typical.

I have never experienced lockup or sleeping on any of the devices below used.
