I would imagine it might happen.

Edmonton has to do something to try and dispel the notion that it’s strictly for revenue.

We’ll have to see if they still hide behind stuff. They’re suppose to be visible.

I wonder if this will apply to the photo Lidar as well?

They have a little light blue Mazda, or Hyundai, where the operator actually sits in the back seat and shoots a Dragoneye compact between the seats out the front window.

Well with that picture they will definitely be more visible from the side anyway. Will it change anything or reduce tickets? Probably not, but they might argue they need more revenue to pay for the changes lol...

Oh yea they probably are gonna hide behind something or try to blend into something the only time i can see them sitting in a visible place is at night.

How far do these trucks give you tickets from? Do you have to be pretty close/pass them or if you slow down to PSL within 100-200 feet of the truck are you fine?

They only record your speed once past.
So if you get down to the PSL before you pass, your good.

For our brothers and sisters north of the border.... Nothing new under the sun.

while in early schools days, the city I grew up in moved to bright yellow police cars with blue racing stripes. Custom paint job. No factory colors available. Those were the early days of MR7 and prior X band radar. I remember watching on my bike LEO sitting in honey holes for speeders when I was finished with my paper route. As a kinda nerd wannabe of the day (used to play “Star Trek” program at school before classes on the UD time share IBM 360) I liked the racing stripes. :) Chief Kelly had them on the Chevy PC1 Nova later on, with special L82 Corvette engines installed). They were cool to me then.

Anyway, the speeding tickets kept coming in. No reduction in cash cow ticket writing. People back then were oblivious to speed traps then as texting, makeup adding people today. However, one thing that did go down, real crime. The chief said that would happen because they were more visible. Gave the impression of more cars on the street so to speak. Could not drive through Oakwood without seeing one. I bet you all will not see much slowing of the cash cow ticket sales with your new color. If the City of Oakwood experiment rings true today.

as the article says, they eventually gave up on the racing stripes, and yellow later. Was really a budget thing. They bought off the shelf OSP (Ohio) from the state. Which were white at the time.

Don’t believe for a second that it’s about being “open and transparent” because they heard and listened to the ppl

I remember a similar speech when they release their “weekly” locations. Which was really a nothing because it wasnt day and times specific

Edmonton seems to have the nicest crops of dandelions every summer and parking one of these new trucks beside any park or sports field would be equivalent to a cloak of invisibility! :p

I think in this case it's different. The Provincial powers are forcing everyone to prove they are not running a "cash cow" so Edmonchuk must post locations (actual) and the paint jobs are a plus.

What I found interesting in this developing drama is that Edmonton has X amount of locations earning X amount of dollars per period.
Meanwhile Calgary has many times the locations earning less money. I cannot remember what the comparison was on number of vehicles and will try to find that number.

Edmonton will always earn more revenue because Edmonton has more fixed camera locations aka. Redlight/speed on green camera that are operating 24/7

The clowns that run this crap aren’t stupid. It’s been slow very well thought out process.
