I cant even reply to users in the Uniden threads because I don't have access.

In any case for those that keep asking I only received the last Beta from Uniden on 11/15 (I did report that on the Uniden thread before I lost access) and its only been 8 days and we have tested for a week and reported all our issues and suggestions back. This is a process that takes some time so everyone needs to be patient. No one mentioned it would take 2 weeks so please enough with the 2 week jokes. Everyone is working hard to add more functionality and fix issues.

Thats pretty ridiculous. There shouldn’t be any restrictions on public sections of the forum IMO. RDF has rules that address trolling and harassment... just enforce them.

Agreed, and the "vendor" or "manufacturer" tag shouldn't mean they are less valuable than other members.

Having that "vendor/manufacturer" tag only means to me that I treat their posts with a bit more healthy skepticism, until I know the vendor and their character better. Which is exactly as it should be.

IMO, vendors and manufacturers don't need to be censored at all in the public forums here, the community will do the censoring on it's own if a vendor is found to be acting in bad faith.

@BestRadarDetectors sounds like you should just preface your post here in the general radar forum with [UNIDEN] or whatever product you want to post about....
Eventually everyone will just start posting in general in order to get feedback from those who are active in the industry in general....

Sad direction we are heading here @ RDF... I really wonder who started this whole clusterf*ck,,,,,,,

I'll add this too...

As I understand it, the administration is getting exhausted with constant reporting of issues on the forum.

I'll kindly suggest to all the membership that if you're reporting "inappropriate behavior" by a member more than once or twice, it's likely that you should start by looking in the mirror as to why you feel the behavior is inappropriate.

Trying to force the forum to operate as you see fit through reporting is only going to garner you more "enemies", as not everybody here is going to agree with your perception of appropriate behavior.

I suggest we all make better use of the tools available to us to moderate ourselves rather than relying on the administration to act as our enforcers.

For example, If you don't like what I just posted, ignore me using the ignore function. I promise it won't hurt my feelings one bit, and if one day it seems like I'm talking to myself on the forum, I'll likely figure out everyone has had it with my shenanigans.

Why? You should be able to post everywhere. If you have something to add to the conversation you should be able to. If you start trolling, you should get warned/banned as needed....

Can you read those forums?

They said that they can individually tailor each person's permissions if they're tagged as a vendor or manufacturer.

I'm guessing that those permissions just haven't been set correctly yet.

I'm guessing that once the staff comes off of the hangover induced by the last couple days of reports on the forum they will be around to clarify.

Yeah the Uniden limitation sounds like an unintended consequence of enforcing the new rule. I’m glad you brought this up so the Admins can consider more granular changes to read/write permissions as appropriate.

let’s hope that gets changed very quickly. I know the admins are trying to set up a fair, equal system and I do respect that but some of the changes made lately are very bad. This one is an example. Another is taking the complaints and punishments off the open forum. I think it helped when people could see that a complaint had been filed and that they didn’t need to add another over the same thing. That openness also helped lower some hard feelings. That one is resulting in more work for the admins as the complaints increase as does the hard feelings over a feeling of special treatment, positive or negative. Still, the number of complaints always surprises me. We, as the group, need to relax a little bit and not get so upset at the drop of the hat. some of us need to remember that this is just a forum.

Yes their does seem like an unintended issue with these rules being enforced. I'm sure we can make adjustments such that you guys aren't blocked from the radar detector vedor section as that's not a restriction that should be there in my opinion. @PY004 can we adjust the permissions a bit to correct some of these things?

Very generous, until someone tries to limit BRD because of ties to other RDs...

This whole thing is stupid and it is caused by a few easily offended snowflakes. Grow up, these are radar detectors not life and death. I also can't post in any laser jammer forums even though I don't even sell standalone jammers.

If someone is breaking a rule, just give them an infraction - manufacturer or not. If someone has a habit of reporting people for stupid shit and it's flooding moderator's inboxes, just disable their ability to report - I promise you, the community won't miss them if they pick up their ball and leave because they are offended they can't report people constantly.

Permissions adjusted for a bunch of manufacturers. Vendor permissions are unchanged as they have no limitations.

Hey Paul, I reckon you revert it to how it was. However, if Manufacturers/Vendors cause havoc in another manufactures/vendors section it will result in an instant 5-day ban. That should sort the snow-flakes from the Boomers.

For the record I don’t report shit... not will I... even if someone says I’m a bit of an asshole/dick whatever... I have pointed out trolling behavior once when the new team stepped in merely to help them with the rules... that is all.

Everyone needs to grow the eff up on this forum.
