Also, repairs/tuneups can be done as long as it results in the same unit being returned to the customer. No upgrades from 3.893 or less to 3.8945 or 3.8952 since they have been short on parts for the current models.

This is the problem mate, you cannot have it both ways. I’m happy to deal with trolls, but the tifosi doesn’t get to moderate this section.
OK. Do what you want, you're deliberately misinterpreting my posts now. The Tifosi don't want to moderate anything.

See, that works both ways.

He’s saying that Tifosi DO NOT get to decide what’s acceptable or who’s acceptable in the V1 section.
The V1 section has the most drama out of any section and it’s only a few members that are doing it.

AFAIK - No you cannot buy V1s currently, and you cannot send in your old V1 for updates in the US. You can still buy accessories of the V1 website.

See! This is partly what we are talking about! Half truths. I can buy brand new V1s, just not currently from Valentine Research. And last I checked V1 Europe still had units in stock. You will not like the price but you can still buy brand new ones (but currently not from VR).
Lastly they are still updating units just not units that require a completely new replacement unit for the upgrade. They are doing the $79 updates plus repairs.

LOL, come-on man, give me an inch.

The question came from a NZ retailer who specified Valentine Research are not responding to their emails.

I stand corrected re:$79 upgrade- There is no need to lambast a post with ! and ! like I killed someone....and who is we?

@nzradars Here you go mate, an option for you guys.

We're already selling stuff from Europe, but we're supplied by the official distributor. That's the challenge for us, we can't FIND an official distributor for NZ. Plenty are selling it "retail" here, but without support (or replies from the V1 Mothership), we can't sell them.

And this isn't about how good or up to date the V1 is, it's about supplying a quality product with backup, support, and legitimacy. For now, we can't, and the lack of clarity isn't a recent issue. Figured RDF was the next best thing to prove we're not being picked on by Valentine - they are ignoring everyone equally. :D

That said, we are looking forward to finding out what Valentine is REALLY doing next.

Everyone is being “ignored” equally. I don’t mean anything by that, just so as to say basically we know nothing and not that I mean VR has been completely unavailable. There has even been a general sense of communication issues being reported. There are V1 units around, just nothing we know coming from VR directly for some time now.

And yes I am also hoping the patents and recent shortages are some indication of a reason to be optimistic. But we seriously know nothing.

It has been somewhat of a dramatic thing and a lot of unusual angst has followed and lingered with the entire discussion. It is no wonder even after 100 pages of discussion someone would still have no idea.

NZ Radars have changed their tune. It wasn't long ago that they effectively said V1 was obsolete and now they're wanting to sell them.
I'm glad they've seen the light. well done them.
Like everyone else, it's a matter of Patience Grasshopper, patience.

We don't want to sell them. We just want facts to help answer questions we get from Kiwis who heard from their grandfather that the V1 was great.

We just want the facts so we can share. Plus - with the DAILY calls we get from people that have a V1 that needs servicing, or needs a window bracket... if we can send them to someone that CAN help, that's great customer service. We don't have to like the product to be helpful and give direction or facts.

The V1 is a great basic detector, just overpriced compared to the features, and again - no warranty, no service agent, no distributor. And that was BEFORE the VR website went under the cone of silence.

But Lou - do not derail this conversation. The admin team will spank you. ;)

Hate to break it to you, but Valentine is a direct to consumer only site. They don't have any distributors.

Thanks! We already know this.... but trying to get other people to understand is difficult. We won't sell anything that has no warranty or parts.

The radar brands we're selling from Europe are not Valentine, and therefore nothing to do with this thread.

We're trying hard to keep this conversation about the V1 update, or lack of, or upgrade, and NOT knocking the mighty Valentine in any way.

Then refer all enquiries to VR. No one else does updates, repairs etc.
And don't think everyone on here doesn't see through your post.

VR doesn't respond, as per my earlier post. Rumour is they closed down, so I came to where the experts are.

You're not just everyone, Lou. But please relax, nobody is trying to take away your V1 or dispute how awesome it is. Nobody is trying to stop you buying another V1 (please, buy another one). Please Lou, just stop picking on me dude.

About wanting to help people even if we can't sell them something directly? That's part of good business, but it's not always possible to help when we have no answers. Currently we suggest eBay for V1 accessories.

Or was it the spanking suggestion that you find interesting.... ? :D

Ha ha. I don’t know what your setup is over therefore but it appears you used to sell new V1’s. However, you advised now you dont want, as you feel there are better alternatives...

I use this forum for any updates on the V1, since, you know, the company doesn't tell anyone s**t. Specifically, this thread now that the huge oaf of a thread was locked. Although I bought an R7 in the meantime, I still like my V1 and am interested in what comes of the new "whatever they make".

That being said, this sub-forum is horrible. I had to look up what tifosi meant, and by god what a term! Now, I'm fairly new and all, but I've been on multiple automotive forums for 15+ years and contributed 1000s of posts on those forums. Never have I seen such ridiculousness.

I don't understand the whole deleting of posts and locking of threads. Is it really that great of an obsession that if someone has anything critical to ask or say, they are a troll? Is there no room for something other than lock-step obsession and obedience?

Let's take a step back...the company that makes the product this sub-forum is dedicated to *HASN'T SOLD THE PRODUCT IN 8 MONTHS and hasn't informed a single person, current or prospective customer, of what the heck is going on or of the ultimate plan*.

Yet, those that come here inquiring to find out if someone else had contact and may have heard something or knows something is labeled a troll? I literally can't get over some of the people on here that are so insanely loyal that you so much as criticize a scratch on a V1 they call you a troll and a useless human.

There are 10 days until Christmas, which, from last I heard (maybe in the other thread?) was mentioned at V1 as a date they may have units ready by.

Call me a troll, delete my post, ban me, whatever. But I've never read posts from such fanboys as in this subforum. Thank god you people don't do medical trials...the bias is insurmountable...we'd all be consuming cornstarch for statin drugs. Sheesh.
