Thanks Vortex , so really all we need to know now is how much better the range is and the BMS filtering , I’m happy with the range now via I don’t drive that fast but the better filtering is always good even with an app

Wow. The angst and gnashing of teeth over this first world problem continues. I thought it would have died down by now.
Certainly a 1st world problem. But aren't all the problems on RDF 1st world problems? lol

^ We in the 1st World need to stop apologizing for the success of our forefathers and the role we play in continuance.

1st World problem, no. Successful people, accomplished society problem? Yes. You'd never dismiss an individual for having taken school seriously and putting years into a career path, only to have an easier life later. You'd applaud them.

Directed at no one, just musing.

I called on Wednesday and no joke they said they we’re waiting on ONE MORE PART and that they hoped it would only be another 4-5 WEEKS

No other info other than lady sounded kinda miserable
Are you sure that wasn't ONE MORE PATENT?

Or the part is the serial number / FCC ID label with the patent numbers listed.........he still has one number to fill in.;)

I swear to God, I'm about done with VR. To the point where I wouldn't even consider their new product. Slap in the face inconsideration at every turn. Probably time to no longer check the forum.

Thanks H8B for posting. All offense to the abysmal stringing along by VR.

Obviously you've never owned or run a business because if you had you'd understand that many things can be out of your control.

Undoubtedly much worse than not providing information would be to provide misinformation. If factors beyond MV’s control are in play, as is surely the case, silence would be a prudent policy until there is sufficient certainty.

A simple banner on their website announcing that V1's will be available soon and mentioning updates to the product would be simple.
It's not rocket science.

"Soon" would invite the same problems that we have in these threads already. And teasing updates that are not assured might also cause problems. If, as some suspect, a revised product is coming after a February patent approval, expect information around that time. It might even be possible that production would begin before that so there would be inventory ready to ship.

It might be beneficial for some of you to consider that VR isn't "doing anything to you" by keeping quiet.

If anyone is mad at VR but hasn't made personal contact; you are in some cases missing some info.

VR may be protecting themselves from issues that many are not aware of. (I'm not discounting that they could be going overboard with the silence)

When individuals have contacted VR; that individual gets some info. In many cases, only some of what VR said is reported here. It's reported in greater detail in smaller groups where ideas can be discussed without a bunch of extra junk and arguing.

If they are angering you with their methods; buy something else.
Understand that realistically, nobody generally cares if someone else will or won't buy something. Leave the party without making a scene and retain some dignity. ;)

Being this long without a primary product is enough to sink any business. I'm shocked they are operational. You can't tell me they are surviving solely on accessories.

Most would have found a way to redesign to get a product in motion to sell. Taking, at this point a year is a slap in the face to your customers.

If MV came out tomorrow and posted information that said: We are having serious supply issues, we really don’t know when the parts will come in and we are stuck waiting.... everybody would probably chill out. If MV came out and said: I’m working on a brand new (or significantly updated) V1, it just isn’t ready for the road yet and I won’t release it until I can guarantee it’s impeccable Valentine quality, everybody would be cool with that (although still somewhat impatient as we saw with the premature information release on the R7).

What is hard for anyone except the most forgiving MV fans to accept is: 8 months of no product to sell or service of the ONLY item that they sell. (Everything else on their site are accessories). I can totally understand the dilemma they might find themselves in.... if they’d be honest and tell me what it is.

I’ve heard lots of people tell me how rich Mike is and that his company can sustain the losses of months of salaries with no products to sell, but at the end of the day, Valentine is a company that specialized in selling its product to the very small high end group of buyers that are infatuated with his tech acumen. The very group on this website. The group that will ultimately have to decide between MV loyalty or a new allegiance to Theia or something else.

With no retail presence like Uniden or Escort or even Cobra to spark sales on the uninitiated at the big box stores or truck stops, it would be wise for a company to insure keeping its most rabid fans happy, or at least informed. Much more popular and rich companies have gone bankrupt or closed their doors when they missed out on timing of a new product and couldn’t get the volume of sales back up to levels to sustain business. Valentine, while loved religiously on this forum, still has to sell product in substantial enough numbers to survive. Even if he only has 10 employees making 80,000 a year in salary and benefits, that’s 800,000 of just the most basic overhead to cover. Granted, that’s only approximately 1600 V1’s to cover the expense (closer to 2,000 when you adjust for actual profit-parts) but still, it’s got to be a concern.

I would’ve been willing to try a V1. I’ve been reading about it for years in the old magazine adds. I didn’tHave the money when I was younger, now I do. I had no detector, and then I bought one. I liked it but then I wanted arrows. Obviously I had to actually buy something that was in stock.

In the end, I really hope MV hits one out of the park, whenever it comes to market. The best thing that can happen is strong competition and competitive pricing. It benefits all of us to have companies fighting for our money and hearts.

Just where have you been for the last 27 years but more importantly the last 9 months???!!!

Valentine Research ISN'T other businesses and they are currently very operational!! In 2019 alone, Mike and Peg stoked checks totaling 16.5 MILLION DOLLARS (one was to Mike's Alma Mater and one to the Cincinnati Ballet & Orchestra $10M), note these were actual checks and not pledges meaning the money had to be in the Bank. Valentine Research is also not the only business Mike owns or is involved with IE the Valentines have other income sources.

And as to your "Most would have found a way to redesign to get a product in motion to sell. Taking, at this point a year is a slap in the face to your customers." please stop being obtuse because the more you type the more you prove how little you know about the real world, specifically the electronics world, and absolutely nothing about a niche market single main product business! First, slapping something together as this much time or even just 3 months that was NOT up to what VR normally puts out would ruin his business model forever IE it would just be another junk RD from Escort, Uniden, or Whistler probably only lasting a few years. I retired from BellSouth/AT&T and we once had to go without a part for 18 months, it got to the point where management was about to stoke a check for hundreds of millions to buy a factory just to take it over so we could dictate stopping all other production to manufacture our part. More specifically there are multiple custom parts in the niche market V1 which one just can't order from a catalog or off the shelf!

And lastly, this thread is about what might be coming from V1 which I would speculate is an updated V1 (NOT A V2) based on the recently approved patents meaning that the update should have better range and sensitivity due to LNAs and better BSM rejection due to a comparator circuit patent. So if you wish to speculate on Mike and his business practices how about starting your own tread about that and put this one on ignore and those of us that wish to can put your new thread on ignore.
