Don’t think so. Looking at last bunch of comments, got rough. Got the post locked. Did not see any of that until yesterday. If I hit ignore, might have been accident from finger across the touch screen on iPad or something like that. Oh well.
No, it got set to ignore for me, too, and I certainly didn’t do it. Must’ve been some sort of forum glitch.

I called in a few days ago and got the same thing about waiting on parts and missed shipping deadlines. When I said I have a 3.8945 and was wondering if the parts are for an improved version of the detector, they said the parts are for the existing detector, not for one with some updates and changes. I know we’ve heard them say a variety of things over the months and who knows what’s true, but just another data point FWIW.
Gosh, what ever happened to the guy who claimed that he got a close-up look at the new Valentine detector while they were testing it....or, The! Guy! That! Loved! Exclamation! Points!?

If an improved V1 will still be called a V1, then it’s the same “detector” by name only. They still gave you an ambiguous answer. I doubt they will change the name or call it a V2.

That's certainly true, but I asked about updates and changes specifically improving what is already available with the current version. We never talked about a name change of any sort.

That said, they've also told people that there were specific changes and improvements in the upcoming version so who's to say for sure?

When I called a while back I asked along the same line as you about what to expect. They specifically said no significant changes but there "may" be some "minor tweaks" . I was left with the clear impression from their employee that when back in stock it would essentially be little changed if at all from the unit that was last for sale. I actually don't really recall any post of someone having a Valentine rep say on the phone that anything significant was being changed since last April.

If they had a substantial upgrade it would serve them better to relay that at least in a general way on the phone rather than telling people for most of this past year what they have. It's one thing to not say anything about an upgrade when you actually are selling a product but when you have no product for sale advising potential buyers of a substantial upgrade doesn't affect current sales at all and would likely preserve potential future sales over the no or minor changes message they have given since the unit when out of stock in the spring.

I dunno, man. I got a sinking feeling Valentine is done. Fat lady has sung.
Give em a chance.

The Model-T I've had on back order from Ford since 1970 is still waiting for the wooden wheel spokes and dual position spin-to-start angulated engine crank handle to ship from China.

Apparently there are still one or two vacuum tubes they are waiting on.

Hey Mikey...…..if you're reading this, give these guys a shot.

They will always have a following as long as they keep (or rather restart) producing detectors. It’s a good platform among “legacy” detectors. If Theia lives up to its promise, I imagine I’ll be switching, and I’ll keep a V1 just for testing duties.

I just finished reading that new V1 Moment of the Month a few minutes ago.
I find it interesting that the reason for having a V1 MoM is to entice anyone who reads it, into purchasing a V1 unit. It's real intent is to market the product - a monthly testimonial published to promote the V1.

So if they intend to close shop, and have no intention to sell anymore units, then there's also no need for the V1 MoM articles. Which leads me to believe they plan to remain in the game.

Valentine is not totally silent. A new "V1 Moment of the Month - November 2019" was emailed today."

The new moment of the month was so short and not exciting whatsoever.... The ones I sent them were far better

November 2019: They were hunters and they were hunting
Dateline--New Jersey Garden State Parkway, southbound at 7:00am: Four—yes, 4—State Troopers along a 90-mile stretch, all hidden in ambush, all running instant-on radar.

My Valentine warned me each time, way in advance, and saved me four of those dreaded roadside conversations and at least 10 points.

Love this detector!

All,
Please keep this thread on topic and respectful. There were too many complaints of bad behavior on the other thread that it got locked because all of the moderation being asked for was on that one thread.

Again, please keep this on topic and respectful.
Further irrelevant posts, jokes or off-topic posts will result in a warning for trolling.

I think Valentine is just going to sell the current V1 when they get their parts in and then when they get things approved or there are not obstacles like potential patent infringements with other companies, then they will show off the new V1 with updated internals or whatever. We will see what will happen and what they do.

That assumes there is a new one. Just because they have a patent doesn’t mean that they know how to leverage it and have it all ready to go, or that the implementation of such a patent is feasible for the market. For the sake of argument, let’s say they worked up a new detector over the last few years to implement their ideas, and the components made it very pricey. If they released a $2k V1, I don’t think it would sell at nearly the numbers they’d need it to in order to make up the difference. It would be relegated to a novelty.

I’m not saying that’s the case, of course, just that we can’t take for granted that a patent means we’ll see the practical implementation of it any time soon, or ever for that matter.

Funny how the OP gives us a 'maybe before xmas' and now several patent approvals and around the same time (after a long process). Maybe an update down the pipe?

So are all these patents leading anywhere that’s the big question.

Nobody knows.

But what we do know is there is a thread for that right over here:
