Like clockwork, a new V1 Moment is out today.
Yeah I read that one, and I have to say that is the most lame V1 moment I have ever seen!

I got that "V1 Moment" as well and to be quiet honest it annoyed and disgusted me to even see it in my mail box. Why do I say this? Because it's completely ridiculous that these people are technically out of business for what is going to end up being 1 whole year before too long, and they are still sending V1 moments (super lame), and they are sending me emails every holiday with their "modified shipping " schedule. And I am thinking "What are you even shipping???" lol! I guess maybe on occasion they are selling one of their contraptions that hang off their detector like a dongle, or Savvy, or maybe a cord or something......

I think that at this point they should have released an official statement on their website or an email stating what is happening. Do they not owe this to their loyal customers? After all, they have some of the MOST loyal customers of any of the these brands that I have seen. Seriously. Somehow they manage to have people that run their detector and swear by them even after all of the newer things that have been released over the years that don't require phones, and Dongles, etc etc.

I am not meaning that critical to to knock anyone that uses and loves the V1. That is perfectly fine and nothign wrong with that. But I am just saying, all of these loyal people that stand by the product and yet they don't think enough of their customers to AT LEAST give a good solid statement about what is really going on here.

I am just simply tired of it. It's gone on too long and it is unexcusable. Period....

That's just how I feel about it. There's too many good hardworking people that have spent their hard earned cash to make V1 what it is for them to continue disrespecting customers in this manner. Either tell us what is going on, or tell us you're out of business and Thank everyone for a great run.

I just read this month’s V1 moment, and I have to agree that it was pretty lame.
The entire existence of Valentine One at this point in my mind is LAME. It's time they move forward in some way and inform their customers formally what is up as I said before.

And I hate to keep ranting about this, but when I got that totally ridiculous "V1 Moment" today I just couldn't take it anymore. lol So I am basically loosing it right now in public. It's just quite appaling if you ask me.

Here they are dead as 4 o Clock , and still sending V1 Moments that are totally lame like. "Yea I got two tickets when I left my V1 unplugged" Lame..................

Their disrespect for their Loyal Customers is what makes me sick. I mean I have no iron in the fire but to all of my friends here that keep waiting and all the while are getting lame excuses, lame V1 moments, lame shipping emails that get you exctied for like 1 milisecond when you see them come up then you remember "Oh yeah it's just gonna be another lame email saying they wont be shipping on Christmas Day"

Really, it's a failure anyway you look at it. If it's just a part they have been waiting on, it's piss poor management of their supply chain. If it's a new product, there's no reason not to release a sneak peak and tell people it's 12 months out. It's not going to affect sales....... because there are no sales.

Mike Valentine not selling radar detectors for 9 months hasn't affected the performance of my V1, so I don't really have anything to complain about. Interesting way to run a business for sure, but nothing to get heated over.

If anything, I'd say the die hard V1 fans are hoping for some sort of update after this extended hiatus. If they go back to selling the same old V1 like nothing happened, it'll be a disappointment for sure, but with the recent patents being granted, hopefully he's got something up his sleeve to stay in the game and compete with the likes of Radenso in the years ahead.

I don’t recall anything in the patents that make it seem like this’ll be able to compete with the new Radenso.

It should be a better traditional detector though. It may offer longer range, better BSM filtering, integrated BT, a new display, maybe RDD immunity, etc. and so it’d be interesting to see how a new V1 would stack up to the R7 and Max 360c.

I’d love to see it have R7 range and better than 360c filtering plus proper MRCD support. Pair that with the apps for lockouts and everything else and you’d have a pretty awesome package that I think a lot of people would be very happy with.

Given that it’ll be a V1, I’d also anticipate better reliability than what we’ve seen from Escort and Uniden too.

I doubt it or anything else will be able to compete with Theia though, but it will also cost less so it could be a good less expensive option. :)

If it comes back as the exact same V1, I think we’ll all be disappointed, so let’s hope for the best. :D

Well, we all could have made a baby in the time it takes Valentine to restock their warehouse.

Mike is past his due date.

Nice.......... lol!!!

Maybe when they saw Radenso's new unit they went back to the drawing board. lol Who knows. I can't really see taythem being able to compete though. But Vortex had some good points earlier, it may still be a great option for people some people wanting cheaper option. Time will tell.

It should be a better traditional detector though.
And that’s something. The V1 is an excellent platform. It remains more extensible than the Unidens and more reliable long-term than pretty much any other offering. Theia promises to be awesome, revolutionary even, but the V1 already is. And it seems like it will remain around half the cost even if VR slightly raises the price.

Imagine if they only updated the firmware, even, to allow for user-selectable custom sweeps of both Ka band (without requiring Ka POP and 33.8 in general) and K, added functions and expanded existing functions of the API to allow even finer control of signal management, maybe added a little filtering to the laser detection, etc. All great and welcome improvements without anything else. But let’s say they also deliver it with TMF3. Even better, and we haven’t even started in on the patents, haven’t required any new or different hardware.

The point is that the V1 is an excellent platform, yes, but as with most things it could be improved further without even requiring a major hardware revision, and it would remain a known high-quality performer at a more affordable price point. I’d pay a $79 upgrade fee for my two daily driver V1’s. Add in the potential of the patents, and it could be a great next step for users in general and enthusiasts in particular, traditional detector or otherwise :)

You can't really say that because "long term" would be something we need to wait about 15 years for to see Unidens overall record vs the Valentine. It's not comparing apples to apples.

The Uniden is way out front IMO when it goes to range, and the modern technology incorportated all into one package.

But that is only my opinion. I think we can all agree it's time for V1 to step it up and modernize their units and get with everyone else.

Uniden’s overall record is already worse, and their planned obsolescence means 15 years from now there probably won’t be many R7’s left in the world anyway. The last 15 years have been great for VR.

No, certainly not, if it means putting burn-in displays in place and getting sued by Escort. “Getting with everyone else” sometimes means getting dragged down to everyone else’s level. We would all need to know what the vague reference to “modernize” means before we can all agree.

They worked on fixing the burn in issue. But at least they have a display to "burn in" in the first place. lol

You have no proof of this. After 15 years we will see what happens. But right now you can't compare 15 years to 2 years.

getting sued by Escort.
Uniden and others get sued by Escort because they are making modern products that compete with Escort. Escort has no reason to sue V1. lol

modernize means make a product that looks and behaves like technology from 2020 not 2000.

I know this is a touchy subject especually for the V1 fans. But as I said before the fact that anyone is still a fan of this at all should make Mike Valentine honored and show respect for his fan base rather than kicking the can on down the road and not informing people like Deacon and others that are still passionate about his stagnate detector.

It's really not. It's a sore subject for those who aren't into modern day apps and aren't open to the idea. They can't fathom why others have a different viewpoint.

We get it, it's your choice to choose not to experience the benefits on a day-to-day basis. Fine, not everyone sees it that way, so let those who see it differently reap the rewards for their effort.

This isn't about the apps, it's about respecting people enough to let them make their own choices. Those who do have firsthand experience are in a much better position to make that choice for themselves.

My wife has never once demanded to know why all the information she needs isn’t provided in a manner more difficult to see and understand. The additional info not provided natively by the V1’s display is the frequency of the alert, and that’s mostly for us detector nerds who find that info unnecessary but still interesting. V1Driver reads it to me out loud, which is great.

You have no proof of this.
I have no proof of a future prediction based on the last couple of decades? You’re right, I don’t have proof of what’s going to happen in the future. I just can’t imagine a single cogent argument otherwise.

Uniden and others get sued by Escort because they are making modern products that compete with Escort. Escort has no reason to sue V1. lol

I’d much rather drive a 2000 Honda Prelude than a 2020 Chevy Spark. But, you know, as long as it looks like whatever the flavor of the week is. R7 looks awfully familiar. I wonder where they got their idea for the design before making it less user friendly?

stagnate detector.
lol
