You are all probably sick of seeing 34.7 C/O detections from me, so here's another one. The TSP is actually known for heavy use of I/O and laser, especially at night. On this particular traversal of it I only picked up Ka twice in 100 miles - this is one of the detections, and in the other one I never spotted the source so not sure if C/O or I/O.

In any case, I know better than to push much over the PSL on this road at night without a rabbit. If you DO intend to speed on the Taconic, however, no detector will serve you better than the R7, for its raw sensitivity alone. I was right at 55 throughout the video, so it's about a 0.7 mile detection around a long, sweeping curve. Must have been pretty severely off-axis at the start.

We have another amusing occurrence of a guy slamming on his brakes when he is obviously well into the kill zone - see 0:38 in the video. Luckily for him he was not far above the PSL or else he would have been toast. Trooper is dark on the side of the road at the very end of the video - again a TSP special. Only way you see him in advance is the reflective markings on the car.

I've figured out why the dashcam keeps defaulting to the incorrect dates - my SD card is fried. I've ordered another and I'll be putting it in later this week.

Ah yes, I was wondering how many of these I'd post before someone mentioned the music.

With regard to the hiding, it's unfortunately a favorite nighttime tactic of the NYSP, especially on the Taconic. Creates minor heart attacks as well when you're driving along and suddenly fly past a trooper who's dark on the side of the road inches from your lane.

They complain about other drivers hitting them, but then they park on the side of the road totally blacked out!

I think a parked vehicle with no lights in the dark is much bigger road hazard that the traffic doing some over PSL and flowing nicely...
No if you drive more than 55 mph on this four lane limited access parkway your vehicle will spontaneously combust.
