Nice little save by being alert.

Driving around a bend, I see a cop coming the other way. He definitely notices my truck and comes to a stop in the opposing lanes. Fortunately for me, he fumbled to get his I/O activated. I was going well within the speed limit when the V1 lit up.

Good thing he didn't have moving mode, or he might have been faster on the trigger

Around here, many of them drive with it on, I can see and 'hear' them for miles.

He simply wasn't expecting me and from his perspective, I was probably coming in hot.

I have a bad habit where if I see them, I may slow down, but ive gotten so lazy lately that ill just keep going whether I see one or not and if the RD doesnt make a peep ill keep my foot on the gas
this video is the reason why I gotta change my bad habits lol

He was driving before, and it looks like he slowed down expecting to clock OP above the limit and immediately u-turn and pull him over. Luckily OP was one step ahead of him.

I could immediately see his behavior. He saw me coming in hot. My first thought was that he was going to turn around and follow me, even if he didn't clock me.

Many Florida cops just drive with it on, don't even care who knows it. The equipment is smart enough to narrow down only the fastest driver and calculate out the speed regardless of same or opposing direction. They'll U-turn and nab anyone, if they can.

I've also been hassled by cops who didn't clock my speed at all. They'd drive past me, no equipment on, u-turn and tell me I looked fast:

1st time: I was a kid, he didn't get my speed, so I got a ticket for "disobeying a traffic sign."
2nd time: I knew they didn't clock me, I asked them directly "How fast was I going?" They replied back, "We had to go over 100 to get you." I replied back with, "No, you CHOSE to go 100 to CATCH UP with me, I wasn't going anywhere close to 100." I got a verbal warning.
3rd time: Dead of night in BFE, he was sitting at a red, probably getting off his shift when I came by. I watched him pull out and kept track of his headlights as he followed me (from a huge distance) for about 5 miles. After finally deciding to pull me over, he also gave me a verbal warning and told me to watch out for deer.

How do we know he wasn't just targeting the 2nd or 3rd car? LEOs can be selective like that.

Quite inefficient not having moving mode on the radar and needing to stop in order to clock people: I guess it's easier to just pick a good spot and do some really selective I/O. Still surprised by his method: it would have never crossed my mind to do that, if I were him TBH.

Don't all Ka band guns have moving and stationary mode though? The LEO was obviously setting up for stationary mode, so he was likely either in the process of selecting stationary mode or already had it set that way from a prior stop, and so he selected his target accordingly; likely car 2 or car 3, letting the OP (car 1) pass by un-targeted. By the time that I/O shot came I doubt the OP's speed would have even registered, or if it did it would have shown heavy cosign effect.

The "save" seems to be just lucky timing versus a "fumble" on the LEO's part. Lucky timing is always nice to have on your side, so that was a close one, OP.

Even if you were going way over PSL he would have either had to try to pull over all 3 cars at once or confirm visually that you were clearly flying past those other cars. Was no point in him using radar at that time. The beam is way too wide to single out a car out of 3 traveling closely together like that.
