I know laser detection on a windshield mount is pretty much useless but I would like to test my R7 to make sure it is at least trying to pick something up. What can I use to test the laser reception?

I got hit by Laser a couple weeks back. No idea the brand or model, but it went off. Was using Waze and slowed down way before I was targeted.
*EDIT* -- I purposefully stayed in the fast lane hoping I would be targeted, so that the detector would have a chance.

I just tried with my LI tester:

Only shot it for 1 sec, but the RD kept alerting for about 10 seconds...

That's what I was saying about your other video! The latch time on the R7 is crazy when it does decide to see laser! That reminds me, I need to turn off laser on my R1 tomorrow when @VariableWave and I do some more laser testing just in case it picks up a laser shot and won't shut the hell up while I'm trying to hear my TMG's!

Now I understand it better. But still not convinced it has the same behavior in different scenarios. Please, see my post under CM TEST RESULTS (it looked like it stopped alerting about same time as the TMG), I don't want to hijack this thread.

The latch time for laser on any detector is usually rather lengthy. Given that laser may only be detected for a second and its "danger" of causing a ticket, most manufactures seem to have followed the logic that a minimum length of time for a laser alert should never be less than enough time to make sure the user hears it.
