You guessed it,,,nary a peep although it did occasionally alert but only when a vehicle drove past the truck...acting like the operator was activating like instant on...disappointing to say the least. It did alert when I pulled out and around it with a rear arrow..so it alerted right about where I would be cited...great work Uniden

I thought Uniden had decent MRCD, now maybe not.

It happens. The colder it gets, the lower the frequencies seem to drop. The antennas are outside all the time.

I’ve had the same thing happen at times with Pro-M and the R-Ex. Even the RC-M has moments where I can almost be on top of it before it goes off.

It’s hit and miss. Every trap and location changes how it’s picked up. If Uniden can get it figured out, it could be great. It still needs more refinement.

The trick is not going too far where it mistakes 2 k band false’s as MRCD, or alerting to MRCD as k band putting the end user in a bad situation thinking it’s a false instead of a threat.

Still, both the R3 and R7 are great detectors with lot of options. MRCD detection is its only real weak spot.

The only real way to tell how good or bad, is by being able to do back to back runs between all of them, at the same location and same rig. Once they move, the dynamics change and the results are garbage when comparing.

Well call it how one may the MRCD detection is unreliable,,unresponsive (in most situations) and therefore pretty much useless..in other words don't purchase this detector if you're looking for reliable MRCD detection...Uniden is way overdue to update this piece...as we all know

I can’t really disagree with your statement. It’s not something I would run as a DD if MRCD is at the top of the threats you face.

The R3 almost seems a bit better for it than the R7. Could be because it’s not dealing with 2 antennas or having the extra sensitivity?

Sometime it can lead to information overload for the R7. We know they’re working on it. It will be interesting to see how it’ll react.

Or if you need a stealthy RD, despite the fact the R7 is advertised as such. But yes, the R7's performance against MRCD is dismal to say the least. As of now, the Pro M is your best bet if you need a combination of stealth and MRCD detection.

I run a Pro M in my Turbo S and find it a much better performer, build quality seems superior and it's super quiet...it just misses the arrows of the R7 ...which are subjective in themselves
